This is kinda fun, I found a picture of Maxwell from space! I know there was a thread a long time ago of these...but I couldn't find it. If you want to add yours go to TerraServerUSA

Isn't that cool?

I could see my kid's 4' round blue swimming pool in our backyard! (The A/S was in the shadows from the trees -- undectable in spy photos!)

Depends on where you live but in heavy urban areas the update seems to be every 2 years or so, the further out you live the longer it takes...

Even in urban areas, the update can be slow! I checked ours, found it thinks our address is my neighbor's house--and the photo is over two years old (Vienna is pretty populous). So, no trailer (but my neighbor's ex's boat is there)!

Maybe in a few more months!

I found my '01 Safari on the storage lot which is about 3 miles from my house. The color makes it stand out from the rest of the SOB's. This picture was dated 2002.

How are you getting that level of resolution. My shot is from 1991 so no trailer. But you can hardly make out the house when enlarged and zomed in.

I believe the low res black and white ones are satellite, and the newer colored ones are photos from aircraft?

Last time over my house was 1996. All you can see are trees.

Naaah, it's all satellite big brother is watching!

Try this one:

http://maps.google.com/

The resolution is great, but I can't zoom it anymore. it would zoom in to see our Suburban, utility trailer and a pile of white trash bags from where we shut down a used book store. They were only here one weekend last fall. Helped us narrow down the date.

Several years ago I downloaded a satellite photo of my parents farm in rural Minnesota. When my mom (in her 80s) saw it her comment was "I think I'll start pulling down the window shades"

So Cool!!

Shari, that is pretty cool! Thanks for sharing it!

Our latest update was 1998, pre-Luna days, but I'll keep trying the site in the future!

Yeah, last time I checked, ours hadn't been updated post-Maxwell...now it shows up, clear as a bell! Keep checking ~

The funny thing is, that's not where we normally park...it was just there for a couple of weekends while I was stripping....clearcoat that is!

Hey you guys, I'm trying to get some work done. The last thing I need is cool websites to go visit, that distract me for another half hour!

It's bad enough that I took time away from work this morning to go pick up a polisher, then of course I had to try it out... but first I had to strip some more clearcoat off... and drop off some tires to get replaced... and book an appointment for the bearings... So I finally sit down to get some work done but I figure I'll just check in for a moment to see what's going on at A/S forums and I end up looking for my trailer and house from space. (it was pretty cool though)

Thanks for the link!

Ken

If you like that you will LOVE this.

Need a fat pipe to down load and a reasonably fast computer. This links all the Teraserver maps together and you can literally follow highways across the country.

http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/

Mine is still a 02 image. The camper came in 03 for us and a whole bunch of trees came out of my yard that same year. The 02 image still has the 1970 Suburban I had sitting in my drive. You can just make it out. A Current picture there is 4 massive pine trees in my yard gone. My drive would be clearly visible and the Airstream is sitting on it.

Yes my neighbors house is round and the house on the other side is round as well.

I live in the Metro-Detroit area and the zoom level is awesome here. You can make out my Mom's 31 footer but my Argosy that I had in '02 is hidden under my big old maple trees. I circled where the trailer was located. I circled the "unpainted Argosy" on my Mom's driveway.

Trailer from space....

Check out Google Earth and download their application.

It lets you check out satellite and plane photos for any address in the world. The photos are either three years old or newer.

Here is a shot of my house where you can see my trailer next to it.
