The first year I owned mine, I kept count of the number of nights and the number of trips.

My second year, I didn't get to work as much comp time, and so I wasn't able to take as much time off from work. I counted trips, but not nights. Pretty much the same number of trips.

This year, I'm saving all of my use-or-lose leave time to cash it out upon retirement, and so I expect to make fewer trips as well as fewer nights. The longest trip for 2014 will be three nights, and then only when there's a Federal holiday. Counting either trips or nights for the year would just be depressing, so I'm not going to count at all.

But my first retirement year, I may count trips and nights again, because my schedule will be my own aside from occasional doctor's appointments and possibly jury duty again (jury summons seem to roll around every three years or so for me). Finally being able to go not only where I want, but when I want will make a big improvement in my already high level of Airstream enjoyment!

We purchased ours in July of this year, and started full-timing September. There has been a few family vacations, and travel without it. Overall, we are now ~150 days. We expected it would grow small and confined, yet with getting outdoors and seeing places, it really does not. Plus adding home features (sleep number mattress, recliners, XBOX One , etc) have helped it to feel more homey.

Retired?
Full timing?
I wish I could spend all of them in the trailer!

I am hopeful the trailer gets to the dealer early next week and I can at least get it off his lot before Thursday. Otherwise I have to wait until we return from an overseas trip in mid February.

Our first official activity will be a local 4CU rally in the Phoenix area in mid March.

We have been able to camp in IBDY the '77' Minuet for about 20-25 nights per year for the last 7 years. Mostly short trips to the trees West of here and one or two long trips to the Black Hills and Bear Lodge to the North each year. Only 3-5 of those nights are in a campground. Work is really interfering with my life.

Edit to correct the number of years enjoying the Minuet.

When you were at the factory-
Were you in another Airstream trailer in the Terraport?

No, I stayed in a motel about 16 miles away and commuted every working day to the factory. There are no motels in Jackson Center.

That's just turble- a motel?
Since I have had a trailer- June 4, 2010- I have only stayed in motels maybe a half a dozen times- all work- related- less and less as time goes on-
so looking forward to our trip to the mother ship/Terraport September 15-17.

We've bought our Airstream, but due to weather back east we can't drive and get it until late March. However, I've been busily planning, so this is what it's looking like:

Boondocking at Flying J's on the way back from NJ at end of March for 3-4 nights.
Two (at least) "shake down" weekends in April/early May, with a minimum of 4 nights.
Summer trip - 44 days
Hopefully a few events with 4CU as well.

Work constraints keep us from using it more, but Year 1 is shaping up to be pretty good!

Holy smokes - now that is just plain showing off ......

...... we are nowhere near this ball park (I'd like to be but a lot of it would be just me and the dog ..... ) ......

..... over 10+ years we've averaged out to somewhere between 50 and 70 nights a year - most short trips of 3 or 4 nights with one road-trip (usually in the fall) to make up the difference.

The rest of the time? - in this order - family, home, hobby and community ......

Spending more and more time in our 23 ft Flying Cloud

We purchased ours in November and have spent a week at Gulf Shores State Park and 5 days at Topsail Hill State Park in FL at the 2014 Canopener this month (Jan). We are leaving in about 10 days for Ft. Campbell, KY to visit family stationed there, son in law returning from Afghanistan. We will be in the AS in April in Huntsville because my mother in law's house will be full of other relatives and we are the only ones with a house on wheels. about a week there.

This is so encouraging to see the commitment to this way of life. As a new owner this encourages us to get out there this first year knowing that it all begins with us hooking up and going. I hope not to be that owner that says " for sale only used a few times".

So far, 4, at the Canopener rally.
I have booked April 4-5 at Dewayne Hayes in Columbus, MS for the Thunderbirds air show at Columbus Air Force Base.
We will spend April 19-27 at Lake Tiak O'Khata in Loiusiville, MS for the Magnolia Messenger RV rally.
We will spend September 12-15 at the Diana Singing in Pulaski, TN.
We will spend September 16-17 at the Terraport at the mother ship.
In addition, there will be other random weekends and holidays at George Payne Cossar state park in Oakland, MS or the North Abutment campground in Grenada, MS.
Also, the not-yet-booked return from the mother ship and the Texas/Louisiana RV rally at Salmon Lake park in Grapeland, TX.
Make that 6.
We just spent Friday and Saturday night at the North Abutment campground. We plan to go next weekend as well.
We will spend May 2-4 at Yocona Ridge.
We will go to Salmon Lake Park in Grapeland, TX in October.

We took delivery on our Airstream 6/28/13 and have been full timing ever since. The Airstream feel like home now. We had never RVed before and have some rookie mistakes that were the height of aggravation at the time, but are a source of laughter now. Our point of view now is that a brick and mortar home is more a prison than an abode.

As of now I have 9 camping reservations...
That does not include the Lake Tiak O'Khata Magnolia Messenger RV rally, the Diana singing, the service center appointment, or the Texas/Louisiana RV rally, or events that are further than 6 months out like Pickin' at the Lake in September or Thanksgiving weekend.
There are a couple of weekends we may not camp- Easter weekend and the Bikes on Bricks motorcycle rally here in town April 12- but other than that we will probably be gone campin'.
Dat boy is a campin' fool!

Seems I am always in the Airstream now - parked!

The FaN is ground zero for my start-up food product.
