I've been considering a different type of alarm. Why couldn't we install an extremely loud siren which would be activated when someone tries to pull it away and continues sounding? It would have to be wired to a battery.

Could it be wired so that it didn't run down the battery while just sitting there, but would go off when needed? I'm not electrically inclined.

In thinking about this further, once they are hooked up and driving away, I don't know if they'd stop to unhook or not, so perhaps if it was rigged to go off when they begin to mess with it? Would the fear of getting caught cause them to leave?

Deb

The PO of my Safari put. 12V tap off the fridge,so am thinking of putting a Tracker in the Fridge compartment, make it look like part of the fridge components.

I would rather have a deterrent to run them off before they even touch my trailer, a motion sensor with an alarm or something along with the GPS Tracker.

Don't understand why a security system isn't an option on an $80,000 trailer

Keep in mind that any device that uses radio frequencies (which all of the tracking devices do) will operate poorly when placed in a metallic box without an external antenna.

Even my response was tongue in cheek, I don't own a gun anyway
Perhaps my verbal abuse would stop them in their tracks..
Seriously though, the Smart Tracker sounds like it would provide
a ray of hope if the worst happened.

The Smart Tracker that I installed uses an antenna that is round and about the size of a 50 cent piece. It can be installed any place that can see the sky. Plastic, foam, etc. has no effect. Think about all the possible places. Vents, air conditioning housing, battery box, spare tire, elect. jack housing, etc. Most of these places I mentioned already have 12 volt power.....Tim

So where did you put the antenna so it sees the sky?

pattonsr - Maybe I was not very clear. It sees the sky through plastic, foam, etc. and there are lots of places on an Airstream that will work. My place is my secret. You do understand that I don't want to advertise....Tim

I hope you smart tracker works - it seems that some of these products do not activate when you try to activate them.

I find that the S.A. police don't jump out of their cruisers very fast either.

A hot stolen trailer will be parked out of sight and quite possibly indoors. If you respond yourself, there may not be anything to see, and if you summon law enforcement they are going to need a warrant and may not be willing to go to the trouble.

Even in Texas you can't walk into somebody's workshop or warehouse or whatever with guns blazing on the strength of a stale gps locate.

Beyond a certain point, I think it makes sense to have good insurance and leave it at that.
Jammer: True... so you wait for them to come outside and THEN you shoot them in the leg which will allow them to scream a lot and painfully try to crawl away! Ooops, is that a gun he's going for.... damn, gotta shoot him in the head to protect myself.

Seriously, everyone knows that bears and moose don't steal AS but illegal aliens do. Yes, I know that there is no official proof of who steals what but we all know who's more likely to kill you and steal your stuff so they can brag and buy drugs.

Your point about bears and moose not stealing Airstreams is essentially unassailable. Your crack about illegal aliens is either sarcasm that doesn't translate well to written text or ignorant FUD. Perhaps you should clarify.

Am I illegal?

Aliens like me?

Thanks for all the people mentioning what they do to protect their spacecraft. This is helpful. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose my pod. How would I ever get home? Those stupid phones don't call other planets no matter what ET says.

Earthlings should shoot fewer Earthlings.
