That space in the shower.....

Since most of us only use the shower for a few minutes everyday, just what do you use all that space for the rest of the time? We store our matress topper in there and put it on the pull out bed when it's time to sleep.
I'm sure I'm not the only one using that space for other purposes besides taking a shower.
What do you use the shower for?

Hi, we only use it for showers too. If I have to store stuff in the shower, micro-wave, or oven like some people do, that means that I have too much stuff. [my opinion]

I put in a row of quite strong plastic suction cup hangers. We use them for hanging up jackets and such as we only have one wardrobe in the layout of our trailer

For a while, we also used to keep our flip top garbage container in there, but at present we just leave in next to the toilet - we have the walk through toilet arrangement with shower on one side of the aisle, toilet and sink on the other.

I agree it makes good sense to use the space for things other than showering!

We use it for showering only. Except:

We have been know to transport plants in the shower.

When we go to San Diego, we often buy tropical plants in the nurseries. They are less expensive there because they are yard plants. They winter in our sun room and spend the summer on the patio. It looks like Kauai. Plumerias, Hibiscus, Bougainvillea, lemon, lime, Japanese oranges, etc.

On our trip to Iowa a couple weeks ago, we took a peach tree and an Amur Maple ( both were volunteers that started in our yard from our bigger trees) and brought back two small Mulberry trees.

The shower is a great place for them to ride and we just move them into the open space in the front of the trailer when we shower.

Regards,

Ken

We also only use it to shower, now.

I'll share this with the hopes it might prevent someone else from making the same mistake we made:

On our first trip in the MH we stored a paper bag that included items such as Christmas cards, a deck of Airstream playing cards and stuff on the floor in the shower.

Having the gray tank overflow honestly never entered my mind until it was too late. Found out the shower floor is the low point and that's exactly where the overflow ended up. (glad it was gray tank)

Two lessons learned: Moniter level of tanks more often and dont store anything easily damaged by water on the shower floor.

Cat box

In my previous Classic 25, the cat box lived in the shower since that was absolutely the only place it would fit. The bathroom had a sliding door, so the cats always had free access.

The box had to be disassembled to get it through the narrow shower door, made even narrower by the accordion folding door. When we showered, we would set the box up on the seat and shroud it with a big trash bag. After the shower, we would turn the trash bag inside out to trap any water.

I kept the drain plugged and used biodegradable wheat-based litter so that there would be no problem with a few grains occasionally getting into the black tank.

Our shower stall is a great place to put the dirty laundry basket.

We use ours to dry our towels and swimsuits after swimming. Aside from that, it makes a pretty good shower.

We store a bucket in the shower, and remove said bucket to take a shower.

That could be an ugly surprise if you are like me and like to jump in the shower first thing in the morning to wake up!

Our 85lb. dog gets her water and food bowl stand put in there. Keeps it out of the way and is easy to move out for a shower

Makes a great place to store the outside screenhouse and the 8x20 rug that go outside as soon as we get there. We camping we use it to store drying towels and bathing suits--much easier once we figured out the hidden hangers!!
It is also great for taking a shower.

Ditto - I recently converted my hamper to a 5 gallon dry wall bucket so that I don't have to dry out the shower every time I use it before the laundry goes back in. At Alumapalooza I saw several campers who were using these buckets as outdoor tables and chairs - with neat little revolving seats in place of the standard lid. I don't know where to find those, but am on the lookout. My second bucket is the hose bucket.

Trick I've learned, fold your dirty clothes before dropping them in the hamper - much more will fit.

I got a nice three rung towel rack at IKEA that I've mounted in the shower which also allows me to hang anything I launder inside and let it dry there - roof vent open and a fan placed inside at the bottom to aid circulation.

Hi, I bought two suction cup towel racks and stuck them in my shower for wet towels to dry, but there is little or no air movement in the shower to dry these towels, especially since they are so close to the shower walls. So I bought a three bar towel rack from IKEA and mounted it in the bathroom, in a way that they should get better air flow and dry better in less time. Note: I haven't been out since I installed this towel rack, so time will tell.
