Thanks forum members, we just bought a Classic!

For the past several months my husband and I have been lurking on the Forums learning about Airstreams. We have contacted a few of you offline with specific questions. Everyone has been so very helpful and this Forum has been a wealth of knowledge.

Yesterday we took the plunge and ordered a 2016 Classic. We are very excited and eager to be a part of this community.

Thank you so much for your posts and your gracious sharing of information. We look forward to reading more and hopefully someday returning the favors.

Cheers!

Susan

Welcome, Susan! Please post pictures when you get your new coach. Don't expect it to arrive with no issues, but don't let the dealer put off repairs until the warranty is out, either.

Welcome to the forum.

We took the plunge in Feb and ordered our new Classic. We got it in April and we love it!! We picked it up in Columbus, Oh and headed down to see our daughter in Florida. With only a few minor issues, we came back home through Ohio and stopped at Jackson Center to have it checked out. So happy we did that. They are great there. and let you camp there too. We are about to head out to the Grand Tetons soon on our first big boondocking trip. We have been enjoying it around Wisconsin at various State Parks. We camp at home pretty often too. If you are like us, we watched the videos over and over, before we got it. We just decided to get a portable 200w solar charger to add in case we can't use our generators. Now we just have to get all the dog care solved while we are away. (5 dogs) Our trailer was made at the end of the 2015 line and we got the bonus of some of the 2016 features they were adding. (The nice sliding vent covers and kitchen sink rack) Enjoy the excitement of getting it!

New 2016 Classic.

I just ordered a new 2016 Classic in May and picked it up last week in Columbus. Love it and looking forward to spending winters away from Indianapolis. Congrats on your Classic!

We're a few days away from purchasing a Classic too. What color combo did you choose? I want to get Macadamia/Sandalwood, but am worried as I haven't actually seen this combo anywhere.

Got a used classic 5 years ago and bought a new one 2 years ago, we have enjoyed it greatly. Keep us posted. (They get more fun over time.)

I don't think you can go wrong on the colors. We were torn between the dark sofa and the light counters, or the light sofa and dark counters. I even tried to get them to make the bathroom counter in sandalwood, but they wouldn't mix. We got the dark counters and the light sofa. We are just loving it anyway. Last night we camped with our 2 yr old granddaughter here at home on our farm. She loved it. We have trouble now sleeping in our house! It's cooler in the valley out in the camper. Our old farmhouse gets so hot upstairs.

Pictures, please! Also, please look into joining the Airstream Owners Club, where you can meet with and camp with other Airstream owners! Good times, good stories, good friend you just haven't met yet! Hope to see you down the road....

We probably won't take ownership until after the first of the year as the backlog is significant.

We chose the Classic after looking at every other model a couple of times. This was the most comfortable for us. With the other ones I would have had to put a pillow or two behind my back when I sat on the sofas. The bench was too wide for my legs.

Also, oddly enough, the dining tables on some models were oddly high and just not comfortable to eat at or sit working on the computer. And I'm 5'6". My husband is 6'3" and some of the dining tables were not comfortable. As we plan to be in this for extended periods of time we figured we better get something that seems comfortable from the start.

Thanks for asking!

Susan

Welcome to the forum.

David thanks for the encouragement and for the reminder to make sure everything is working while under warranty. It did take me aback to see your caution as we were naively thinking everything new is perfect. :-)

Do you know whether we need to take it back to the place we originally purchased it to have warranty work done? I ask because there is a dealer less than 2 hours from us. We purchased this from one 3-4 hours away. (We did that because we saw a Classic when we first started looking but could not get our eyes on one after that and we wanted to take one more look to be sure.)

Thanks again!

Susam

Curious why you took it back to Jackson Center as opposed to the dealer? Can you do that as long as it is under warranty? I suppose you make an appointment with them somehow?

We just decided to get a portable 200w solar charger to add in case we can't use our generators. !

This isn't the one that comes from the factory, is it? I will be eager to hear how you like it. We opted not to get the one from Airstream.

Have a great trip!! Thanks so much for the encouragement

Rudy we are not very far apart. You are the first person we know in the area who has a 2016 Classic. It will be fun to compare notes!

We ended up getting the macadamia and midnight counters. We thought about the darker color furniture and loved it but wondered if the dark with the dark cabinetry would be to dark for us.

Doubt you can go wrong either way.

Good luck with your purchase! This should be fun!
