Swiss Army Airstream
I just received the June 2009 Issue of Outside magazine and look at what I found !!! A $63,000 19ft AS will be offered this summer with Victorinox Swiss Army badging and custom interior. Wonder how many will go for this.

I suspect this unit is not going to sell like the 75th Anniversary Editions did. But time will tell.

The AS website states there will only be 150 built.
63k for 19ft. Ouch....

It will be interesting to see how happy Victorinox will be with their name on something with such poor quality control. Or perhaps they will cause Airstream to build to a standard equal to the price of the product and name reputation.

Maybe that's why they'll be $63K...
I'm just saying...

And don't forget the corkscrew! I always thought it was a very civilized army to provide corkscrews. . .
Couple of thoughts. . .
They really should have painted them red with the cross and shield logo on the side. . . the knife and the trailer's shapes do bear a certain resemblance. . .
And, second a real Swiss Army Airstream ought to have a gun rack with a Stgw 57 or Stgw 90 for each occupant. Yeah, I know, standard issue to the citizenry of Switzerland, but would give some folks heartburn in this country. (The old saying goes, "Switzerland doesn't have an army, Switzerland is an army.)

Wow, in this economy, Airstream's answer to it is the $100k+ retail toy hauler and a $63k 19' very slightly modified, limited run Bambi, that still has an NCC of 700lbs.
You know, back around 2004ish, I seem to recall the SE or CCD 19' Bambi retailing for about $38k to $42k. Today, they retail for around $50k, now add a $13k premium on top of that for a bunch swiss army gear, a red awning, etc seems a bit much, but hey, that's just me I suppose.
Good luck to 'em, that's all I gotta say.

I think it includes a whole knife block full of knives. Really! Cute idea. Expensive, but really pretty!
