Strange rigs in Quebec

Just got back from the biggest RV event in Quebec -- the 16th annual Gatineau Balloon Festival (www.balloongatineau.com). We saw some strange rigs that I've never spotted in the US.

Take a look at this unique tractor-trailer combination by Econ-o-Camp. It's a model RS 190 TA. The "tractor" is a modified Dodge van. I saw an Econ-O-Camp B-van model on the grounds as well.

This guy's home-brew RV was right down the row from us. Note the shingles overlap towards the back, so the rain doesn't leak in during towing. The tow vehicle was a Toyota Corolla.

If you think your rig is big, think again! This happy couple has two full living levels inside (see the upper window?), sliding glass doors on the patio, and room for a pony ...

These guys won the prize for "smallest rig" -- and a very fuel-efficient tow vehicle, too!

Now, I've seen Airstream "Squarestreams" but never an Argosy-branded one. The owner of this rig was very proud of it. He waved enthusiastically and pointed to his trailer as he passed us by on the way out.

Get a load of that picture window, and the aerodynamic propane bottle cover. Very cool.

Out of nearly 1,000 RVs, we were one of only four Airstreams there (one modern MH, one vintage 310 MH, the Argosy, and us). Boy did we stand out!

Here's a picture of the 310 for you motor-heads out there. By the way, the owner just took it in on trade last month and he plans to keep it.

Cool rigs. The little blue house scares me a bit though!

...and room for a pony That cracked me up!
