Thief has good taste in RV's. I would look for it to be in the aluminum scrap yard by now.

Pictures? The trailer could be sitting in my front yard and I wouldn't know it's the stolen trailer based on the description.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

anyone notice the large number of Airstream thefts in the Pacific Northwest? It seems there is one a month.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...eam-85927.html This one was also stolen from a dealer in Covington, Wash. just before Christmas 2011- but a tip led to it's recovery. I doubt yours was taken to a scrapyard; it's around somewhere. Good luck getting it back!

I don't know if the cost would be worth it, but there are lots of vehicle tracking options that could also be concealed in an Airstream. Most rely on having a cell-phone connection though...

I put LoJack in mine. They have special rates for trailers. Might be worth looking into, given what we paid for these things.

First dealer should install coupler lock very in expensive on all units would deter theft, I would not ever leave my A.S. vunerable to theft or any of my flat beds it works. This is a no brainer to stop thefts

Scrap Value never crossed my mind..

Just great,,, some pot or crack head tows my AS off and cuts it up for scrap,,. Another worry now to think about..

Few years ago,, and I'm talking an area with only 1 stop light in over 900 square miles,, we had a meth lab just 4 miles north of our farm.. What got them nailed was Alum ladders,, Alum tanks and other items made of Alum were walking off folks farms by the semi load at night,.,. Got the local Barney out in the country and then found the meth lab..

So,, don't think I will pull my trailer to the lake a few days ahead of time to hold a spot.. Thanks for the wake notice.

Doesn’t announcing the fact that you have LoJack installed in your trailer somewhat diminish its effectiveness? I am guessing that if a thief wanted your trailer and knew of Lojacks presence he could easily jam the signal. This makes me wonder if Lojack is cellular based does a cell jammer protect the thief from discovery by the Police. Just kind of wondering….

Yes! What is that about?

Hope it's recovered quickly.

I am somewhat amazed by the train of thought here...
Thieves monitor Air to make note of who has lojack? Seriously?

also, a pot head would never put the effort into cutting up your Airstream. That would require too much effort and would be a total buzz kill.
Cutting up Airstreams for scrap is not a big money maker as some think. The math does not work out even remotely close to the effort you put into it. With weed at $500 an once, you got to do A LOT of scraping.

Most folks think it petty criminals. I strongly suspect it is highly organized crime.
