Just shows to go ya that us civvies can be pretty useful too. If ALL civilians would help the authorities, a lot of theft and violence would go away and we would all be better off. IMHO, just sayin'.

Sincere congratulations on getting it back. Please don't ever tell us that the perps walk on a technicality, plea, etc. They should be nailed. No matter what condition it's in, you're going to lose $$; I'm so sorry to hear this story at all. And you did everything you could to prevent this, short of a fleet of Landsharks (Dobermans) loose in the lot at night. Hey, that's a thought!

The crook should be sentenced to 5 years hard labor of polishing old Airstream trailers or fixing rv black tank issues.

I have a GPS tracking device installed in my 65 Safari for a year now and it works great. It is "Smart Tracker" On Demand Tracking from RMT GPS Tracking (Rocky Mountain Tracking, Inc.). It only took a 1/2 hr. to install. I don't have to pay monthly fees I only pay to active to track. Every time I have activated it came up on my computer map within 15 min. Go to: GPS Tracking | GPS Tracker | Vehicle Tracking for more info.

Recovered stolen Airstream

I am curious as to where the stolen A/S was recovered. I had my hunch that it was moved east of Covington, but security camera showed it heading west when it was stolen. Any info on the perp and his local would be useful for us in the neighborhood.

I sent the thread author an email, asking if he'd mind sharing the details of the recovery with us. It would be both interesting and helpful to know what this particular thief was going to do with it, giving us all a little insight into the problem and possible remedies. Hope he agrees...

There is obviously, judging from the posts on this thread, a strong interest in hearing as much of the story as can be revealed. There may be reasons for silence depending on how the case unfolds, but if there aren't, we'd like to know what happened.

Wow, once again the outpouring of concern and well wishes mean a lot to us.

I look forward to sharing with all of you as much of the details as I can but at this time I need to be careful due to our wacky justice system I do not want to risk jeopardizing this case and letting the #*+%=]{*^% get off on a technicality.

The condition of the Classic is OK but will require somewhere in the neighborhood of $18,000 in repairs to bring it back to pre loss condition.

In will tell you that had it not been for our diligence in pursuing this the police would never have found it and the insurance company was just as happy to write us a check for to entire value of the trailer. I sometimes wonder what is wrong with things these days.

I will keep you posted as things develope. The thief has multiple warrants for his arrest in multiple states and has been on the run for over a year. If it were not for our tipster and our efforts to recover, this guy would still be out there. We must always stay true to what is right and never give up seeking justice.

Thank you all,

On March 20th, a 25' Flying Cloud was stolen from the AS dealership in Eugene. ( Sutton's )
Is there a plot afoot? Nefarious activities, I believe.

Nefarious activities and bad dudes

I'd be willing to bet most anything that the drug trade has caught on to the utility of ASs as meth labs or similar places to do illegal drug stuff. After all, they can haul our babies up/out in the boonies and work in them until someone happens by who might spill the secret of their location, so then they just pick up and move it someplace else and keep on doing their thing.

I appreciate Frank's conspiracy theory (stealing to ship abroad), but is there really a big enough market and selling price to warrant all that trouble and risk? Plus the cost of shipping??

I just wish they would STOP IT!!

i don't agree with the meth lab theory. why would they want something as memorable as an Airstream? ... unless maybe they're on drugs, LOL. i'd think they would want something more low profile. i gree that is should stop happening!
