Stolen Airstream Houston 72 Tradewind

I came into my office this morning and my 72 Tradewind was missing. Gate was open to the lot behind my office in Houston. Please be on the lookout.
It has a broken front streetside curved window. Thanks for any help. Also the awning looks like a tootsie roll on the side.

RichHog, I'm sorry to hear that. We'll keep our eyes open up this way. Let us know any other details that might help identify it.

That sucks. I vote for stringing the thief up.

I am so sorry to hear that. It is a big fear of mine. I have a 73 Overlander and I always worry about it. I have mine in the back yard with a fence. My neighborhood has been hit a couple of times recently. My next door neighbor lost all his landscape tools for his business. They broke into his garage and took everything. A house a few streets over had their house cleared out. People are getting desperate.

My advice would be to check with hunt clubs. If they cannot get plates for it and they know people will be looking they may keep it at a hunt club. We have several in Georgia and I have seen RV's parked for hunters.

good luck finding it.

Another place you might want to check is with the extension service. Farmers hire migrant workers and put them in RV trailers to live. I saw migrant communities this past weekend in So. Ill living in RV's.

Posts like this one are very disturbing to all of us on the forums. Let's hope we find this trailer very quickly. The custom wheels, awning and broken window will be very helpful for everyone who is looking.

Let's keep our finger crossed.

BTW, was there any video surveillance cameras in the area that might have recorded the trailer being towed away?

unfortunately no cameras on the lot and no insurance on the trailer. They will have to force open the door as they have no keys. The front broken window was the outer pane only so they may not feel the need to replace that soon.
Just did the police report, they didn't even ask for pictures so to them it's just a trailer.

Here's a prayer for the recovery of your AS, and to confound and capture the thief/thieves. Let's get the Almighty on 'em and see what happens!

Yuck - I am so sorry to hear about this. In case you haven't thought about it, perhaps there may be an opportunity to check with other local businesses on the same street and area who do have cameras and they could check their video for the last 24+ hours to see what may have driven past.

Good Luck! We're all praying for you.

Okay now we have two recent thefts in Texas. I'm concerned about my trailer even thought it is in a secured (supposedly) storage area. What are the best security devices? Tongue locks, lockable wheel chocks? Any ideas will be helpful! Thanks

Awful news, makes me angry to hear of another theft. You might want to somehow check with the nearest shipping port- Galveston?- as these trailers have willing buyers in Europe. Hopefully, though, it will turn up locally, and SOON! Best of luck to you.

Here in So.NV there are video cameras on the majority of intersections all around town. Someone must be monitoring them. If your area is equiped with these, as alot of cities now have them, isn't there someone who can view the tapes and maybe get a license plate number from whatever towed your AS away?

So Sorry to hear about losing your trailer. I lost a boat that I dropped off late one night and I'm sure the guy was there smoking a cigerette looking like he was dropping his off, next morning mine was goooone.

I read that anyone can pull up to an Airstream with a 2" ball and drop your tongue on it even if it's locked, so blocking the coupler or locking the wheels is better than a Reese pin lock, I have to pitch mine.

Provide a VIN everything else is easy to change or fix.

Good Luck in recovery.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Maybe you could check Craigslist search for the areas aroud you to see if it might appear there or maybe even place an ad in the RV section?

Am doing what I can to put the word out. Huge possibility is that it could show up on a deer lease somewhere hidden from view. Had the usual lock on it and another lock on the ball hitch. And chain on the gate with a lock on it. None of these things are much of a deterrent to someone determined to cut and hammer.

For those with Hensley hitches, you can just hide the drawbar which would make it VERY difficult for any thief to connect to the hitch box.
