Still no word on our missing 72 Tradewind. She has a broken outer streetside curved window (inner one ok, they could be looking for replacement lock assembly on the door, and they ripped off the cover to the Atwood Electric lift. Awning has grey plastic cover doesn't roll up too well.

On a happier note we just picked up a 2006 25 Safari FB in Pennsylvania. It's a sweet trailer, but we will not abandon the search for our Tradewind.

It appears you got gyped.

Congratulations on your new baby! I have been so sad since your '72 was stolen and I check here everyday for your updates hoping you have good news.

Have no leads to my Stolen Tradewind (Labor Day 2010). And it seems that the other threads from my friends who have also experienced this thrill are silent. So I take it that no body that's had a trailer stolen has anything new to report?

I will say that buying a 2006 Safari SEFB has helped ease my pain. But I still want my Tradewind back and hope to help others from being victims of theft.

Still missing now after 3 months. No clues or leads. Things I've learned:

Insurance would have been a good idea.
Don't leave your trailer in an open place where others can want her too.
Don't trust in locks and chains or covers over the hitch
Gps tracking is cheap to buy, especially after spending thousands fixing her up.
The Police really don't care
Put the WBCCI numbers on her, could help someone report her
Don't leave your personal stuff in the trailer, pictures, flashlights, favorite CDs.
You really don't have the time to send out flyers, contact every police department in America or post photos at truck stops.
Most of humanity is good, bur a few people out there should be blown off this planet, they're called Airstream thieves.

Damn! If that don't beat it all. Pictures and numbers will help us. Put out flyers and concentrate on folks who would be up and out at 0500. An Airstream being towed in the city approaching rush hour should stand out....even to the Police.

Trailer Stolen in Houston

What's so strange about this is that Star Pizza is less than a half mile away from where my Tradewind was stolen from. I had driven by and seen it and made sure it wasn't mine. Again it was located in a pretty busy public space.

So did they cut the lock at the fence? Cut locks off the hitch? If the tires were bad then you may want to contact tire stores in the area. Post photos ASAP. Describe distinguishing features. Did you have a camera on the lot and that's how you knew it was 5am? Did yout electric lift work? How did they get it hitched up?

Could be a chance the same guy that stole mine

Sounds like it's time to place a "bait" Airstream, with a cadre of undercover police, in that area of Houston.

Catch the thief, tie him up alive and use him as a speed bump in a walmart parking lot during lunch time traffic. Take lots of pictures and smear lipstick all over his face.

Stolen Tradewind

not mine but it's out there somewhere. Here's a pic for the record. Had grey painted propane tanks, a broken outer curved window and the cover for the Atwood lift was stripped off during the theft which was last Labor day in Houston.

Your story inspired me, a military retiree, to store our AS on Redstone Arsenal. That way it's triple fenced and guarded by armed guards. Had to wait a year on the list to get a slot, but your story motivated me to get that done. Sorry for what happened to you, but much appreciate your sharing your story and all of the other learnings that have come from this thread. Thanks to everyone!

It's a hard lesson to learn. Good to hear you have a secure location. The vintage trailers are ir-replacable once you get it setup the way you want it. Hopefully mine will find its way home.
