Spring has sprung!

Thought that you snowbound folks would like a couple of samples of St. Patty's Day in the Texas Hill Country. It is predicted to go to 82 today and the short shorts and halter tops are hitting the streets.

This is a Texas Mountain Laurel in front of my house. It is about 80% flowered out. Just walking by it I can smell its grape Kool-Aid fragrance.

And another

This is a fairly rare variant of the Texas Mountain Laurel that comes out a light lavender and fades to almost white. This one has almost none of the grape Kool-Aid odor, but it is constantly swarming with honey bees.

That's pyracanthia espaliered on the wall behind. I'm covering the south wall with it to reduce heating from the direct sun.

Angry Bah! Humbug!

<dripping sarcasm on> Thank you VERY much, Mister "Spreader of Good Cheer!" Just rub a little more salt in the wound, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! <dripping sarcasm off>

Actually, we were in the high 40s today, and all of our snow has melted on the East Coast of Iowa. It's a little mucky from runoff, but I'm hoping that you'll send a little more of that warm weather up our way, John!

Your plants are beautiful! I'm jealous!

Roger

Beautiful!

A little color in our brown world was most welcome.

Thanks for the "Springtime" cheer!
