So you want to be a TV star..

I've been contacted by a TV production company out of New York. They are planning to shoot a segment for a home design show that features Airstream.

They want to park an International CCD and vintage Airstream in Central Park for the show. The CCD will be provided by the factory.

They are looking for a local Airstreamer with a nicely restored vintage unit to do an "on camera" interview as well as provide their unit for the shoot.

They plan to do the filming on either Aug 24th or 26th in Manhattan.

There is no compensation for the filming, and it is scheduled to take place Aug 24th or 26th in Manhattan

Anybody interested??

Just wondering... Who's the production company and what's their reasoning that they want participation, but without offering any compensation? Doesn't seem fair. Is it a student production or for a charity?

I had asked the same question, this was the response.

No compensation for this one. It's for a cable TV show on the fine living network. Sounds a little low budget. Typically, the opportunity to be on TV is considered compensation.

Case in point, look at what the peolple on the reality shows do. They don't get paid unless they "win"

It sounds, though that you'd get to park (and camp) for free on Central Park, that actually would be worth it! That's a pretty deluxe campsite for a bit of NYC touring!

Wish I didn't have a prior commitment, since then I'd be all over Manhattan! Oh, and you want an interview? You'll have to book the time with my assistant, dearie.

This is sounding like the Sheila Bridges show, fwiw.

Might be fun!

I would, but the storm is coming our way (to Florida).

Batten down the hatches.

Get ready.

TV people think they bestow blessings on the rest of us mortals. I was once asked to go on Oprah Winfrey's show and, while it was a silly premise, the whole thing also had the potential to be fun, so I said sure. Her "people" called me up a few days later, on a Thursday afternoon, and said, "We're taping Saturday, here's what you need to do." I politely noted the short notice & said I already had a commitment that couldn't be broken easily.

The "people" huffed, "Most everyone is quite happy to change their schedule for OPRAH."

Needless to say, the taping went on without me.

The going rate is $300.00- $400.00 per day to use your trailer and your time. I'm surprised they want it for free. Maybe they are low budgeted on the cable show.
