I dunno, the first song that popped up when I plugged my iphone into the stereo was "The Weight" by the Band. We looked at each other and laughed and laughed. After that it was sealed in stone. Can't say whether it"s a he-weight or a she-weight tho. I pulled into Nazereth...............

We are zeroing in on Lulu!
The name has multiple ties to our little Bambi. Lulu apparently means peaceful and that blends in nicely with the Zen theme of the Serenity series. There is also. the sort of loose play on the word aluminum. Then there was the "lulu" of a task of convincing my wife we needed an Airstream..... and I just kind of like it, it is cute!
Lulu she is!

So is your Airstream a him or a her?
You will know, yours will tell you if it's a him or her...sounds to me like yours is a her. We've had one of each ~

We call ours "The Mary". We first had a 19' Bambi, then bought the new one - 28 feet long. It seemed huge at the time, and I thought it was like towing the Queen Mary.

Doesn't seem so large now, but the name remains.

Hi all: Anthropomorphism (the naming and gender association of inanimate things and natural forces) goes back to ancient times. Prevailing winds often portrayed as a man or woman blowing on marine charts. In french and many other languages many nouns are either male or female "La mer" (the sea) is female and Le Mond (the earth) is male. In english we use "it" and maybe that's why we personify our "units" because that just seems rude. I call my AS "Tinbad", not so much because I feel it's a he but more as something catchy and more so alluding to swashbuckling adventure.

I suppose our Argosy is technically male, since the word for travel trailer in Italian is a masculine noun (il Carriaggio.)

Now if your Airstream's PO was right, how did she explain such famous aircraft as Memphis Belle (B17 that flew many missions in the European theater), Enola Gay (dropped "Little Boy" on Hiroshima), or Glamorous Glennis (Chuck Yeager's Bell X1)?

Now that we've started lets vote for the best name. I know this is going to get contentious but lets give it a try.
I vote for "The Weight"

Until buying my first Airstream and joining this site (there are multiple threads on this topic) I had never named any possession. Our 66 was something like 6' 8" at the floor, so when we brought our '05 wide body home (8' 5.5" outside measurement) it seemed huge. If we had to give it a name, right now it would be called 'Big Birtha' pulled by the truck 'Moose'.

I call ours Patience. She named herself by teaching me what it took to fall in love with her. My husband just calls it The Airstream, sigh.....

Definetly a her, but she has not told me her name, yet. It will come as her personality develops.

I read somewhere that since these trailers are land yachts and sea fairing ships are supposed to have female names for good luck. So Ours is "Nellie" Nickname of my wife's , given to her by her Grandmother when she was very young.
