Six whole months

I missed a small milestone yesterday; it was the 6-month anniversary of my pulling out of the dealer's lot with my International in tow for the first time.

Six months and about 3200 miles later, I'm happy as a lark with the A/S and just chomping at the bit to go to my 3rd WBCCI rally this Wednesday.

Congratulationss from a fellow "flyboy" John. I know exactly how you feel! When I approach "Silver Belle", I recall the same reverent feeling I got when I approached my first B-17E (In the days when they were silver), and ministered maintenance to the guns and bomb racks and lovingly helped pull through her props prior to running up the engines. I adored that airplane (and still do) and to me it was the most beautiful airplane in the world. I see in Belle, that same magnificent and stately beauty. I would love to adorn the nose of Belle with some Nose Art (I am particulaly inclined to want to put "Man-O-War" - the name of the ship which my crew were on that went down in the Channel-but that would be a warbird, not a gentle sweet accommodation like Belle. However, my wife won't stand for any decoration, decals, emblems, stickers, etc. Good luck and Happy Trails,

Mine has the name of my warbird, but it was a warbird that helped keep the peace. None of the 2500+ F-86Ds built never fired a rocket in anger. They were our first line of defense during the 50s, however.

I particularly like the A/S classic motorhomes. If I were a motorhome person, that would be my choice.

Holiday rally

I'm off this week for the Highland Lakes Unit Christmas Rally at Lake Buchanan; four nights in the A/S.

Unfortunately, Texas winter has finally set in and even though it will not be very cold, it is going to be a bunch of rain. That will limit some of my planned hiking at Inks Lake SP during the free times.

A good start on the second six months of A/S ownership.
