She's Gone!
Today the new owner pulled away with my 27' Classic FB. Actually it was the owner's son from Iowa taking possession of it for his soon to be retiring parents from Washington state.
As such is the case, it is always bittersweet to say good-bye when so many great memories are involved.
While I sit here in a state of Airstream "flux" I may just make a pictorial review of our times together...

Oh no, even though I could probably buy a small house here in Michigan for the money, and I will likely live to freeze my patoots off in her, it's still an Airstream ahead for me...stay tuned. I may be docked for now, but the future I am planning, will be on the road again.

Well, I'm sorry to hear of this, but understand the reasons. Good on you. Hope we see you (and Brad) somewhere soon - maybe at the NOVA rally in March?!!

I like that!
Rhonda and Ryan, thanks! I'll have to pull something out of the hat and make some magic, won't I?
Lynn, vintage, that's it! I hear once you go vintage you will never go back, or would that be forward?
Hope the new owners enjoy her as much as we did.

Whenever I can convince DH or when he decides it isn't too cold to be working outside and putting the dual cam parts on the A-frame and he won't encounter a storm. It's North of Saint Paul Minnesota and it's cold and snowy. Having patience is going to be the really hard part!!!!!!! But I am ever so glad it is really going to happen.

3 Airstreams or none ?
Hello,
You all's profile shows two trailers that are different than the one you are pining over parting with.
So is the profile wrong? or does this parting ritual take place rather often around yall's parts?
I understand alot of things are being sold for survival up in the state of Michigan. Tough times for so many there. I hope you guys are not in that circumstance.

Being impatient I have already added the 2004 under my name but it is still at the seller's house and now I can complete the deal! The 23' is wheel estate banked in the driveway and enjoyed by my husband on a daily basis as his music pod.

Brad worked at Delphi/GM for 33 years ever since his Navy days, so basically all his life, but got forced into early retirement with a package that they have since renigged on, taking away all health and life benefits and handing the pension over to the government pension benefit guarantee board under bankruptcy where there is a 30-70% reduction in the works. The unemployment rate in Lapeer is 17.50 percent(U.S. avg. is 8.50%). Recent job growth is Negative. Lapeer jobs have Decreased by 10.40 percent. Not certain of the date of those stats... Needless to say we are and have been unemployed with the exception of work camping at a resort out of state last summer. We are too young for medicare and social security and too old for employers who balk at hiring seniors. Competition is very stiff, 50 to 1, for the few employment opportunities posted within driving distance of our home that we might not be able to sell. The economic downturn and plummeted investments and the years of unemployment have accounted for depleted savings and we are trying to reinvent ourselves while other's our age are approaching their retirement. Add into the mix that at our ages we should expect to be needing some of those health care benefits that we no longer have after paying into those plans all our healthy working lives.
This move into an older Airstream with a different floorplan will put a little money in the bank and be a comfortable abode for two adults and three pets for any future work camping that we may do, or become a permanent residence if circumstances do not improve.
Next...onward and upward! Pictures of the new (to us) Stream. Yea!!!

Yah - today is NOT a good day to try to drive to St. Paul. Even though it's better here today, Indiana, south of Lake Michigan, is getting socked with snow. Hang in there - Spring will eventually come!
