selling my airstream

hello,

I've had a trailer for sale on airstreamclassifieds.com for a while, I got a few emails indicating interest, I responded nicely and quickly, but never heard back … I wonder if the interested party is getting my response?

I'm just replying to the emails I get "someone is interested in your ad"

is there something I should do differently ?

also are there other places I could post my ad? I'm in no rush to sell, however the next stage of my life will be more international travel and my lovely airstream has been mainly in storage …

is it priced correctly?

thanks for your advise

More info on your unit and listing would be helpful

I think you’re a bit high. The more popular version of the 25’ is the FB. Try RV Trader? Also contact the Airstream dealers in So. Cal and work out a consignment deal? They have a captive audience who are coming to them for the sole purpose of buying an Airstream.
Your trailer is is super clean. Right person will come along.
Good luck. Ron

Thanks for the advice, I will try all that.and maybe lower the price a bit more ... I'm just a little baffled by people contacting me and then not responding again ...

I would put my phone number in the add, I would not do that on craigslist but here not a problem imo.
If someone is serious about your trailer they will or should supply their phone as well so my take is they were not serious potential buyers.
your trailer looks nice and I think priced accordingly, what I was unaware of after looking that they made wide body 25s in rear corner bed? Probably what is keeping your trailer from selling up to this point.
Good luck.

Isn't this the model that is called the "Six Sleeper" (official or unofficial nomenclature)? In my limited view, this is a very desirable floor plan (of course, I'm biased, in that ours has the rear, corner bed). Yours seems to be a very nice Airstream, and your price seems reasonable. Best of luck with the sale!

The general problem we see in the Classifieds is that the seller's email server sometimes filters the incoming emails that have a "reply-to" that's different from the sending server. As long as your email client is sending the replies to the buyer's address instead of the "classifieds@airforums.com" address, your replies should be going to the people who emailed you. I would get copies of emails sent to classifieds@airforums.com and haven't seen surprising messages lately so I think you're good there.

Keep in mind that people looking through the classifieds may respond to multiple ads and may decide a different trailer is the one they want to pursue, or they may be "window shopping" a bit.

I had pretty good response from RV Trader on my MH.
You can tailor your ad to have up to 60 photos also.
There's always some tire kickers, but I had enough real people that it sold.
Also, you must be patient.
Buyers want a fire sale, so if you can't justify their price, then hold fast.

Problem for us with the 19 corner bed is climbing over the inside sleeper getting in and out of bed.
Plenty of 19's and 23's with this bed arrangement are sold though

May I offer a suggestion? Revise your listing - and create listings elsewhere - to indicate your Airstream is a "Six Sleeper." Yours is an uncommon layout and actually preferred by many.

Since your unit is pre-2012, thus lacking the "seal" between the rear bumper and the floor, if you could confirm there is no water damage to the rear floor, I think you would be in a great selling position: clean, attractive, free-from-water-damage, Six Sleeper.... You should be able to get this price, maybe more.

Also, take the steps necessary so that all of the photos in your listing(s) are oriented correctly.

All the best,

Rob

We just bought a 25 2005 that very similar to this except we don't have the L shaped couch. We love the layout! The couch is what sold my husband and the dinette sold me. We just couldn't find a new layout like this for the 25. It is great for watching TV or taking a nap...we bought a collapsible ottoman at Costco to throw our feet up while watching TV. Then with the dinette right across from the sink it gives you easy extra prep space. definitely list it as a 6 as I think that will help. I don't think it is priced bad as yours is a higher model and ours is just the base one. I noticed it was only listed for 14 days maybe give it a little bit more time before adjusting the price to much. Good luck.

selling my airstream

I sold the same trailer (a 2008) on airstream classifieds. Ton of interest and sold within a month. You have a gem! It’s an absolutely incredible floor plan.

Now, I had about $50k or so invested in upgrades and renovations and I also marketed it with the attached sales sheet I developed. Marketing and pricing it right are key to a fast sale at or near asking.

Here is an example of marketing collateral you should consider developing if you want to stand out to buyers:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1lbseqqluc...le.pdf?dl=0&m=

I got close to asking (exactly what I wanted). That said stock like yours should be priced in the low 30s in my opinion (I did a lot of market research when I sold mine). But would be good to refresh on market comps.

Msrp in these were around $63k and they are over 10 years old now.

So your price is high in my personal opinion, but take it for what it’s worth. Asking high with the intent to come down is not a good negotiation strategy. Buyers hate haggling it’s a turn off in a private sale. I’ve written a ‘how to negotiate’ segment here on air forums on that topic.

Hope this helps.

to be honest I had no idea what to price it at, but the limited response over the last 3 months shows me i'm probably still too high, even tho some here think it's priced right … my add will expire in a few days and I will make changes when I put back up. probably with an lower price

thank you and thanks again everyone for the fantastic responses!

Msrp was $63k. So purchase price was likely $50,000 - $52,000 (~15-20% off msrp is typical for airstreams)

If you are asking $45,000 that’s only $5k / 10% depreciation on a unit that is 10 years old.

Airstreams hold value but not 1% depreciation per year

Thanks again everyone for your help on this topic. My airstream has found a happy and excited family that will take good care of her. I hope they join this forum for help.(sold on rvt.com)

I blasted them for 3hrs with information, walkthru and tips. She needs some new love, I abandon her the last few years, we found some minor issues that will need to be addressed...

And thanks for all the help and tips the last 11 years! What a great community!

I will miss our airstream, but she deserves better than sit in storage most of the time.

Thank you thank you thank you!
