Scam
This ad is an exact duplicate of my classified except for the ridiculous price. It's probably the same scammer who agreed to pay $43,000 AFTER I sent his "agent" $1000 via Western Union to pick it up.

Questionable Classified Items
Two suspect Classified listings today, both by new members who both joined today and listed "their" trailers at about the same time today:
"2014 Airstream Sport 22' Virginia $14,900"
and
"2009 Airstream Flying Cloud 23' Wisconsin $20,000"

zag, I sent him a request for more info and got this:

The price is $17350 with shipping included.
This trailer has absolutely no mechanical problems, the exterior has no scratches, rust or dents and the interior is like new, no accidents. All power and optional equipments are working perfectly.
The trailer is with me in Helena,MT at the shipping company warehouse, inspected and ready to be delivered to its buyer with all the documents, this company will help me with the shipping and payment process.
I am letting it go with shipping and handling included. Because I work a lot and I don't have free time, I am not able to close the deal myself and I want to use a professional third party company to handle the sale. This way we are both protected.

How do these scams work? I get a ton of emails from Nigeria, telling me I've got myself a share of xxxx million$$$, but this is a new one for me.

Some scam Ad's look legit at first, but the more you talk to the person, the more you will be able to tell if legit or not. They will give some kind of sob stories and say they are in another province/state but the item is near your location. They will also request that you send them money and the item will be yours. (Ha! Red Flag.) Another red flag is a 'too good to be true' price for what looks to be perfect items be it a vehicle, trailer, or house.
Sadly, its too common out there, on kijiji, craiglist, etc. etc... I pray no one here gets caught in this.

... it is still posted, however Clar7135 has noted that although the Seller is listed in Wisconsin, that the picture of the trailer's plates show California - that seems odd, no?

I only spent about an hour yesterday browsing, seems the new format is honey to the bee's.
Thankfully pretty easy to spot, Longhorn lic frame on a trailer in Conn, photo's in the desert. $14,900 on a $50K unit....two identical ad's at the same time on both Coasts.
Stay observant, be careful, it will get better.

These scams work because one in a thousand actually answers these ads and get fleeced. As the saying goes "a fool and his money is soon parted". These scammers have their own mantra, "it is a mortal sin to allow a fool to keep his money". My financial advisor says he spends 10% of his time managing his clients money and 90% keeping his clients from investing in these kind of scams. The scammers are preying on our greed, stupidity, and naiveté.
