Roadwing removable mud flaps

Do any of you have these on your tow vehicle. I know no one will admist to towing with a Jeep GC but that is what we have at this time......

Camping World wants $149.00 plus shipping $16.50 (they only stock the wide ones and the Jeep needs the 69" wide) and that seems like a lot of $ for mudflaps....

AND THEN the Jeep's exhaust pipe would shovel the hot stuff right out on the passenger side flap.....once had a GMC 2500 to pull our 5th wheel with, and the exhaust melted the passenger side flap and it wasn't (the exhaust) directed on the flap.

Suggestions? Thinking of going without flaps here.

Go to a truck stop like "Flying J" that sells mud flaps for $13 each. Then look in your yellow pages and call auto shops to see if they'd install them for you. The shops can cut to fit. Good luck.

with alittle help from a friend who welds.

it is just a square tube with an angle iron welded on top, it slides over my drawbar. the flaps are just standard truck items bolted to it.

seems to do a good job of keeping the rocks off the trailer.

I've had a Roadwing fitted for a few months on the back of my Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Cummins, and I'm disappointed. The ten or so bolts rusted after two weeks in Florida (no salt), and I replaced them with stainless ones with nyloc nuts. After 3 months the lightly painted steel strips through which the bolts pass are beginning to peel and rust. Mud still passes outside and round the device, and the trailer gets filthy. I'm keeping it for now (It was about $180!) and I'm going to add mud flaps to all four wheel arches as well. On the plus side, it should protect most trailers from large rocks coming straight back and smashing the windows. (In fact, because of the high nature of the Ram 4X4, there is a line of sight from the tire point of contact with the road to the front window, over the top of the Roadwing. That may not affect your vehicle, but my windows are still at risk. I may end up adding a flap attached to the top of the Roadwing). To be fair, I have seen enthusiastic reviews from others, which is why I bought it. Good luck. Nick.

i may go with slightly taller flaps, about 4 to 6" taller than what i have now.

this will provide 100% coverage from the rear wheels.

my friend pointed out when retrieving his new trailer last weekend that a little mud got by this set up.

if i decide to go with larger flaps i may reinforce them somewhat to keep them from flopping over.

the ideal set up will allow me to still drop the tailgate and not have them touch.
