Rest in peace?

I just thought I'd share the pics of this trailer I saw in a local freight yard yesterday. Is it a real Airstream, and if so, what vintage? The whole scene had a serene yet eery feeling about it...

It's a 59 CA built 18ft. 59 was first year for that style wheel opening. The windows are left over 58's. So it's a early 59 that was probably built in 58 as a 59 model.

That is the same model but somebody hacked the wheel wells. Most of the windows are the 59 style but the on cubside is again a left over 58.

Mid 60s Bambi, I'd say. No tongue (frame damage?), though the shell seems to be in nice shape. Probably a "project."

Yup, it sure is. Perhaps a $100K Ralph Lauren special, just waiting to happen.

I'd have to concur with Toaster. Is it available or just sitting there looking forlorn? I could use some parts.

It is sitting in a fenced yard, which is owned by a local furniture mega retailer. It does have a tongue, but it's hard to see in the pics (the ball end is dug into the dirt a bit). Parked near-by is a 1956 Pontiac sedan -- perhaps it is destined to become someone's project, although it has been there for a few years now. Looks very forlorn.

Thanks for the insight, fellas!

Offer them $500 for it. Even if the floor is rotten it's worth $500 in parts and then some. It actually looks in pretty good condtition skin wise. My concern is the angle it's stitting at hte back window may be leaking. The hitch bing in the dirt is also going to promote rust and may need some frame repais and a new hitch/ 59 is a regular leaf spring so unless the axle shows a lot of rust it's probably fine.

Boy, I hate to see one like that. Poor old thing deserves better than to be sitting nose in the ground!

Where is Calgary, WA anyway? I've never heard of it, and I couldn't find it on a map.

That would be Calgary Alberta, perhaps?

I don't think it can be a mid-60s, virginia firefly, because of the 7-panel end caps. Those phased out around '63 or so... there were four late-50s models that ran a foot or so longer than the bambi, including one that shari's site lists as the "footer," otherwise unnamed.

i think because of its size there would be a lot of takers were it available ...

Yes it is. I couldn't choose Alberta when I first signed on, and now the update won't change anything...

To fix just click on user cp on top menu next to home. Then click edit porfile on left side menu.Scroll down to where it says State.Scroll through the list of states to the top and click the blank line at the top of the list.In the box titled or enter your choice here put Alberta. Then click save changes at the bottom.Hope it works. That's a nice little trailer too bad it is on the other side of the rock pile.

I'm sure someone would be interested in fixing it up if they wanted to get rid of it. Stuff like that bugs me because if they're going to keep it, the least they should do is store it right, not all lopsided like that!

I feel better knowing it's Calgary, AB. I thought I know WA pretty well, I was surprised to hear there was a town I'd never heard of!

That looks exacltly like my '58 Traveler, 18 ft. What a shame to see it like that for two years and nobody around to rescue it.
