Best is around 40 for fridge and 0 for freezer.
Others may have different opinion.

Those temps are not good for food dtorage. 50 deg is not sufficient for keeping food from spoiling quickly. At or below 40 deg is recommended. 32deg freezer really not a freezer. Make sure your thermistor is slid all the way to the top of the fins in the fridge. Make sure you give it time to cool down, it can take a while. Door openings as little as possible.

How does it work on electric? Temps?

Make sure the setting is correct. I just helped a couple I met at a campground with this issue. The setting on the Dometics is that the higher the number, the colder the fridge. The intuitive way would be that the lower the number the colder it would be. I run mine at 4.

My fridge doesn't work as well while traveling on propane as it does when parked. 50 is normal. So now I keep a couple of blue ice packs in my freezer, when moving I put them in the fridge, which will keep everything cold enough during travel. Don't know if this is normal, but it works for me.

So maybe a silly question then, but ok to tow with fridge on propane? Are these three way? Mine is a 72 Dometic.

Refrigerator on propane

Your refer has a model # something like RM xxxx. I'd bet it is a 2 way. You can tell by the choices on the control panel. Are the controls at the bottom?
It's best to know that info.
We travel with our refer on. Never had an issue.
Others will disagree. Make your own decision.

Travelling on propane shouldn't be a problem unless your flame is blowing out. It may be disguised, as when you stop it may re-light (only blowing out due to air-flow during travel.)
Dometic had a re-call based upon this problem. The fix was to add a small "baffle" at the base of the "furnace" which heats the ammonia coolant.
Not knowing the exact model you have, so you'll need to confirm you need this, Burner Shield part number 3108069.000 (It should be free.)
It's user-friendly to install, just a formed, sheet-metal flame protector.

Here's a thread that discusses it (and has a picture): http://www.airforums.com/forums/f425...ing-53710.html

Determining if traveling with fridge propane on is needed, tested starting out with a precooled units night before using wireless temp gauges in freezer, fridge and separate ice chest an 8hour drive from warm So Cal to the Sierras 80s most of way 60s upon arrival.
Top is freezer, next fridge, 3rd ice chest. Temps are after no propane after 8hrs drive. COOL !!!! Ice chest
Seemed least effected !

If the fridge works OK on propane when stationary for 8 hours compared to running on shore power but warms up when towing then your flame is blowing out. Mine did this until I had the Dometic recall performed. Extra shielding was installed around the burner. No issues since. If the fridge warms up on propane when stationary then the issue is with the gas delivering or burner section. Probably need to clean the burner and check if the LP pressure is correct.

I think he turned the propane off to see what the temp rise would be. To compare to the suggestions that the fridge will stay cold enough while driving with the propane turned off. I don't think he was having flame issues.
Not cold enough for me.

Exactly. Point being, pending ambient temps and drive times, you may have some freezer and fridge leeway unplugged. Until now, Always suspected doom to the cold food up until this weeks survival test. Surprised it was cooler than expected and for as long a warm drive.

Refrigerator on Propane

Refrigerator works great on propane when stationary.
someone suggested extra shielding around burner and also to block some airflow when traveling by installing a filter fabric over the vents in the door to the outside back of refrigerator.
Is this OK
Thanks

I have not found that necessary. To the best of my knowledge mine has never gone out when on the road. I would not want to do anything to restrict air flow when stationary.
