The local dealer here in Tucson recently installed a dual cam on my tt.....now I am left with holes in the tt hitch which I do not like... but what the h, I guess I'll just put screws back in.
What I really wonder is why do I still have the knob on the hitch bar assembly. Should or does Reese have only one assembly for dual cam and friction? Do I have to have a non-fuctional ball on the right side of the hitch bar?

If you want to take it to a welding shop or a buddy with a torch go for it. Some folks are the belt and suspenders type. They will still run a friction sway control even though they have the dual cam. If you were towing a 30 or 34 footer you might want the additional control. I have seen units with dual cam and TWO friction sway controls.

If I understand your question, you are referring to the small ball to the side of the coupler ball on the ball mount. Depending upon the vintage of your ball mount, this feature may be a permanent part of the ball mount (it is on the new Reese Ball mount that I purchased for my Cadillac) - - if this is the case, all you have to do to dispose of the friction sway control mounting device is to unbolt and remove the little ball - - this can also be done if you have the older style with a weld-on bracket (the bracket will remain but the ball can be removed by unbolting - - this was the style that came with my '78 Minuet). (I actually like the little weld-on tab on my old-style Reese hitch as it makes it much easier to lift and maneuver into the receiver.)
I feel sure that you will like the Dual Cam setup. My Minuet went through the same conversion that your coach did earlier this summer - - and it is certainly a relief not to be dealing with the constant tinkering required by the friction sway control.

Believe it or not, my 34' came with the Reese Cam-Loc and TWO friction sway controls. I thought it was overkill until I towed it in high winds (40-50 mph cross-winds) across Iowa a couple of weeks ago. I ended up tightening the friction controls TIGHT. What a difference it made when passing trucks on two lanes going the other way with the wind behind them.
Fortunately the majority of towing I'll be doing is on back roads locally, and the Reese does OK, but I think there is a Hensley in our future...

Yes, it is that little ball beside the hitch ball that bothers me. I am having trouble getting rid of the friction bar on hitchtrader; maybe I should just be double sway controlled.
Kistler, while the friction sway control can be a nuisance, particularly having to remove it when you back up, it's certainly not going to hurt anything to continue using it.
I've never needed the friction controls on any other trailer I've had, but then I've never towed a behemoth like this before either!
My cam-loc always did fine with my Safari all by itself...

Thanks! We like it, but it is truly a "behemoth". It lives in our driveway, and every day I am still shocked at how big it really is!
Fortunately and surprisingly, it really isn't any more of a problem to tow than was our Safari. That really was a surprise for me.
At RoadKingMoe's prodding, I've got a bunch of photos waiting to be posted to this site when Andy gets the photo stuff working again. I put them up on Yahoo for the time being.
