Rear window modifications on 2004 Airstreams

Is it possible to order an Airstream from the factory with different size windows than what is shown on the AS brochure or website?

I think a large window centered on the rear end cap looks nicer than the small window mounted on one side.

It will depend on the model and whether or not there is a rear corner bath. I know on mine - it would not be an option. And personally it is hard to tow and see anything behind me with the smaller window. One thing you may be able to request and I wish I had on mine - is that it actually opens instead of being just an escape hatch. I know on the CCD's its both an escape hatch and working window....

I actually asked the question several times both to the dealer and to Vicki at Airstream and as told flat out no, that is a Classic and International window. I too was thinking of getting the window for the rear exchanged since from my specs the window on the 25' SS CCD is the same size as it is on the 25' SS. Sill the answer was no way.....now if you are a master riveter, I am sure you could buy the window and install it...but I'm not....

One option may be to order the Airstream "Mobile Office". It looks basically like an Airstream shell with lots of windows, and a desk. (see photo).

Seems like you could easily remove the desk, and be left with a custom shell with which you can add your own custom interior appointments.

For me, I like having all the plumbing and such done. I think if the rear window really becomes an issue for me, I may measure that CCD rear window at rally or informal meeting (maybe even at the dealer) and decide if I want the service folks at the factory to install it. From what I understand there are a bunch of things that can't be introduced into the production model they have that can be done at the service center. It makes sense that as they build 25 a week to keep up the pace, they have to have somewhat of a cookie cutter mentatlity or each unit would take 2x as long....still that CCD rear window being functional and all is really sweet!
