My prototype had an Airstream windshield.
Too expensive to tool for just a few units of tempered glass.

mtrailink, a member of this forum did have pictures of his Airstream 5th wheel posted in the member's photo album area. He had the unit for sale a few months back. I notice he now has an interior posted for sale in the classified section from a square stream.

Is there really an AS oddity?????

Where is it that the displayed coaches com eup to the level of "Special Coach" - this gets into an area that is sensitive and extrememly protective of it.

I am just trying to find other units that have the front/rear wraparound windows. Yet to find more than 1!!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1

Just that SilverToy is and remains one of the few - perhaps count them on one hand! Maybe 1 finger as I haven't verified that the 2nd trailer even has them..... We'll see....!

Are there other areas where AS got a few trailers built that had a unique combination of asseccories, windows, feathures and etc..... that make them outside the norm that is produced at JC. Seperate sub-clubs unite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double Panoramic Window Owners UNITE!!!!!!!!!!!

WE can get them ou tof the Duldrums they are in.!!!!! We can save them and drag them to safety. Having a SO-SO airStream is still better than 98% of the SOB and other category combined.

Go AirStream!!!!!!! ALl the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Live on and be bigger and better every year!!!!

Silvertoy, I was in a new Safari Special Edition yesterday at USAAdventures in Davenport IA with the double panoramic windows. It's the rear-door variety. Probably one of the best floorplans I've ever seen. It was only $51k...

As I posted earlier, Eddridge Eason (WBCCI #8889) of our unit has a 34' with double wraparounds. I am told that another member, no longer in the unit, also had a double wraparound 34. They were apparently fairly common in the late 80s.

Double wrap windows are rare, but not unique. In this timeframe I think they were a rare option on any airstream with a rear bedroom. I have seen several from the mid-80's to early-90's in the 25', 31', 32', and 34' lengths. I think I have even seen a 29' with dual wraps, but the 27' of this era couldn't get them because they were all rear bath. I have a Airstream Dealer info from 1994 that lists the dual wraps as an option on pretty much any Airstream 25' or langer (forget the price off the top of my head, but think it was about $1500).

More recently, the 16' CCD Bambi has a dual wrap option, as does the 25' Front Bedroom Safari Special Edition.

Also don't forget that Argosies offered an optional double wrap on at least the 30' model in the late 70's. This was before an Airstream Trailer even got it's first front wrap window in 1982.

The first 4 are of the 1989 Airstream 5th wheel..
The last two are of an Airstream "prototype" dated around 2000?? This is one I believe never made it to the market..

The last two are the Airstream Integrity 5th wheel. I don't know the years, but they did make it to market. I was at a rally with two of them (with different floor plans) last year.

Well, I stand corrected!

Hello all -

I hereby stand corrected. I am glad to know that there are other double pano units out there. I personally, have yet to see another one however.

Darn, my double life as a one-of-a-kind AS owner, comes to a gentle end. Sigh.

Thats OK. I guess that I will just have to enjoy the ownership experience of sitting and looking out the broad expanse at the poor SOB owners who got nothing like it, IMO. Until I actually see another AS with the same set up, well then I guess I can still believe I have something unique.

I really would LOVE to see another unit with this feature. Especially some of the shorter ones - must be a really neat addition.

Whenever I do see another AS - the lack of pano (front or rear) really sticks out as a feature that is missing - to my eye - since I guess that I have gotten used to seeing it on SilverToy. I pass her in the drive every day and she still makes me smile, each and every time.

Supposed to be out and on the road today - headed for Tombstone AZ. We were to leave a 6:30am but a sudden winter storm - 2 inches of snow and ice, 50+ MPH winds, 15% downgrade on our road with the aforementioned snow and ice - all pointed to a "failure to launch" this am. Good thing we stayed as the power has been off and on all day (VERY high winds) and house systems needed to be reset. SilverToy is loaded, hitched and ready!!!

We are a GO for 3/13.

Nearly 1 year to the day since SilverToy joined the family! Thanks to ASF, all the folks here, and the general welcoming attitude and friendliness. Good to be a member! Waiting for the AIR stickers to tell everyone else about this place.... See you all on the road!

The Integritys are easier to find on the used market than the big silver 5'vers...I know I have been looking I don't know if it is because they are newer or if they made more of them. I have seen maybe 6 or 7 Integritys but only 1 Silver Airstream 5'ver and it was in very poor shape.

Axel, what you sacrifice for the rear wraps are the cabinets on either side of the rear island queen. I think that most folks probably opted for the additional storage rather than the windows...
