As the proud owner of a QuikSilver Edition, going on 7 years now, I'd like to hear from other QS owners. Since there were only 100 made, I'd love to track down each of them. Discuss replacement parts such as seat fabrics and curtains and the Tiki drawer pulls.

Thanks Shari and Steve... The '55 Sedan Delivery was built specifically to haul the QS. 460 Lincoln engine, over/under transmission turning the automatic into a six speed, low numerical rear end ratio for fuel economy and all the modern comforts (air conditioning, power windows, great sound system, etc.).

Silver Surfer (the tow vehicle) and Rapa Nui (the Airstream) have made some pretty long trips together.

I have a 2006 Qicksilver that I purchased in 2008. Still love it! I have not yet had to replace any original interior parts, so I'm sorry I can't help you with sources. I would love to hear about any modifications/improvements people have made to their Quiksilver. I did an axle upgrade at the factory to increase my weight capacity and moved up to 15" wheels at the same time. I also changed out all the interior lights to led.

Stan... You're about to answer an important question for me: What wheels and tires did you upgrade to? And how long did the axle upgrade take? Did you have to do the axle upgrade to go to 15-inch tires? (Sorry, that's three questions.)

Our QS is also a 2006, even though the tag at the left says 2005.

I just installed a rear-view camera before our Arizona trip. Set it up so it's on all the time so it acts like a rear-view mirror. Best addition I've made from a convenience standpoint.

Plan on adding a small microwave oven in the overhead cabinet above the sink. That should be done in a month or so.

Well... I had been thinking about an axle upgrade just because I was pretty sure I was at, or over my weight limit. The QS comes in at 3,500 lb. limit, and is almost 3,400 lbs. with fluids and options. I upgraded to a 4,200 lb axle.

The deciding factor was actually a very scary blowout I had on the 14" tire. I had been reading in the forums about lots of problems with the GYM, and the 14" wheels just did not provide many options for different tires. I upgraded to 15" wheels that are the same style as the original wheels. They came with Towmaster tires from the factory. The 15" wheels have 6 studs compared to the 5 on the 14". I believe some on the forums have found 15" wheels with 5 studs that would fit the original axle. I was really hoping to get to a 16" wheel for more tire options, but there is just not enough room in the wheel well.

I am very happy with the axle and wheels. It all looks like original equipment, I feel much more comfortable about weight, and I almost think the new tires ride better (that might just be my imagination).

The people at Jackson Center were great. They had most of the work done in one day, and aligned the wheels the morning of day two. I also had some other work done, so two full days. They brought my trailer back to the "Terraport" each night, and picked it up first thing in the morning.

I had the work done in Jackson Center partly because there is not any local service I feel comfortable with. However, I just had some other work done at Airstream Adventures Northwest at their Boise location. They were great and I would feel very comfortable with their work on most anything Airstream.

We own a Quik Silver too, VIN is the lasr six numbers, 519201. We bought our Q/S after our November Denco Unit 2005 lincheon and to this day we have never used it/no travel/not camped in. Its essentially a brand new trailer. It has been at a couple of shows on display so people could peer in, not walk into it. Sometimes I wonder why we bought it........its too cute is its only fault.

We have a QS purchased in 2006. During our first 6 week trip to the NE we had a blowout plus tire wear problems. Upon returning home I contacted Jackson Center and arranged for a Axel and wheel upgrade. We were the second one to have it done - found it could be done through this forum. The axels are rated at 4300lb and 15inch wheels with load range D tires. Jackson Center completed the work in one day. The tour of the center was worth the trip. On side note the trailer loaded, with 6gal. fresh water and 2gal. water in black tank and 6gal water heater, comes in at 3400lb. (not much leeway on original axles). We now have near 50,000 miles, having covered the NE, SE, SW, and NW plus many trips from NM to GA and MO. No major work to trailer - lots of little things, like replacing water pump, adding screws to toilet/shower door etc..

Great info. Thank you. I'll be calling Sutton Airstream in the a.m. About making the conversion.

Our QS's last five vin digits are 19134. I want to put a register together of all the QS,s I can find. Would you share yours? Might be worthwhile in case os resales, thefts and fun stuff as well.
