Smile Just Picked up our 2006 Safari 25 FB SE

We just took delivery of our 2006 Safari 25 FB SE with the LS package. I must say, after having read these forums for the last few months while we waited for our unit to be delivered, I was fearful of what we would find. We were very pleasantly surprised. The unit was nearly perfect. One halogen light burned out (fixed on the spot) and one rubber window attachment not seating properly (fixed on the spot). Otherwise, the build quality looks excellent. We made a list of all the kinds of problems many others on this thread had and found none. A big sigh of relief. Our dealer let us sleep in the unit overnight on the lot before we had to sign any paperwork and we went over everything with a fine tooth comb. I was loaded for bear, but it turned out our baby is perfect. No complaints. Only smiles.

Perhaps Airstream is taking the QC complaints on this forum seriously.

Hey, guess what? We just bought the Stratus 25 FB that Colonial AS had on the lot. Am I psyched? Take a wild guess...

I won't be picking it up for a couple of weeks (at least) so I'll have more to report then. Thank you to everyone who posted to this topic that helped me see the light. Amen!!!

Hey Z,
Saw them being built on the line last week at Jackson Center, Sweeet.

Congrats, take pictures, and safe streaming.

hey congrats!

Enjoy the new rig! From recent first hand experience, the trailer exceeded almost all of my expectations in terms of quality and standards. You'll be pleased I'm sure.

congrats and enjoy!
brad.

50 or 65 respectively...

I started a response to your comments and my computer shut down on me! Yes, I have the Goodyear Marathons - Load Range "D." My question is - does switching from load range "C" to "D" necessarily mean that the orginal 50 psi pressure should be increased to the higher allowable 65 psi with load range "D?" The load capacity of either load range tire is the same at 50 psi (2,150 lbs) and, by actual scale weight, I'm well below that loading. My theory is that I don't want to make the trailer ride any "harder" - so why would Airstream go for the higher pressure? Does this now mean that we can raise the CCC by 1,560 lbs (---LR "D" at 65 psi = 2,540 lbs, or, 390 X 4 = 1,560 lbs)? I don't think so!

hi cracker

i don't work for a/s nor did i sleep in a holiday inn last night......

you might be better served directing this question and issue to the service center where they serviced your trailer...

i'm simply pointing out that their policy as i understand it......
is to inflate tires to the max pressure printed on the sidewall.....
so for d rated that is 65psi...
and then allow the customer to adjust, for the measured load.....

it would seem wise, from reading here to lower pressure to match load....

given your understanding that tires can't increase the load rating limited by trailer and suspension issues, and since even c rated tires exceed your needs, why did you opt for the d rated?

i remind you that your first post suggested poor service or quality control...instead this seems like a user issue...no disrespect intended. tire selection and air pressure setting are somewhat individual at replacement time.

cheers

Run them at 65 PSI. I doubt you will see much difference in ride at 50 PSI. Less likely to have tire problems at full inflation pressures.

Argh!!!

I AM LIVID!!!! Just got off the phone with my dealer and the factory in it's infinite wisdom decided I would not like the stratus stiped fabric as ordered and it's all beige, all beige with white counters!! ICK!!! Then they have the nerve to tell the dealer they want the customer to see it before they make it right. I'll hate it. I am not driving 6 hours round trip after waiting weeks and weeks and weeks to hate it! I am physically ill at this point. It was specified in writing striped dinette and beige lounge. And this after I couldn't get forest sage. What are they giving these things away, anything goes?

I assumed you told them no way, and put it back to what you asked for?

Carol,

You might want to point out to them that "the customer is always right!"

Refuse to accept it. Demand your money back (down payment I assume) and threaten to take your business elsewhere. They might get the picture.

Best of luck. Let us know how it works out.

Carol,

The striped/beige is one of their standard color combinations, isn't it?

I think someone is messing with you. They sent the wrong model, or the guy filling out the manufacturing card made a mistake, or someone bought it out from under you.

Their mistake, they should make you happy. Like an upgrade, or free powerjack or something.

On the other hand, at least they had the courage to tell you about it before you drove there to see it.
