Propane knocking sound

The propane knocking/pinging sound in our new 2014 Flying Cloud is giving me fits. It occurs when not on shore power comes from the tanks and of course in a campground at night when I'm sure everyone can hear it. Last night it started at 1 am, again at 4 am and again at 5 am lasting for almost an hour. Any ideas what we can do or what is happening?

We are having fun in spite (fridge opened up and spilled eggs, air conditioner gave us problems at Lake Mead where it was 106) -currently in the Grand Canyon on a two week road trip. There are two other Airstreams in our loop! Love all the waves from the road

We have a hook on the wall and use an elastic strap to keep the refrigerator doors closed when traveling. Don't ask why. Apparently you've already been there too. No answer for the knocking though. Maybe the service man got trapped inside and wants out.

Almost all OPD equipped tanks will make a tapping sound when they or the trailer moves. That is from the float inside that cuts off flow into the cylinder when it gets full. Oh, they don't have to move much to tap, either.

If it's the OPD valve, try putting a half-inch lift on one side under the cylinder. If that doesn't work, try the other side.
