Question Portable Holding Tank

My husband and I just got our Airstream (yea) and we need to purchase a portable holding tank... any suggestions on make, model, size? We read recently that a particular model was too tall for Airstreams. We are looking at Barker Tote Along 4 wheel 25 gallon. Thanks, New 26U owners

I prefer a smaller size tank. Sometimes it is not practical to roll the tank from the campsite to the dump station, especially when it is 1/2 mile away on roads with potholes. So, I use two 10 gallon tanks. That's because 10 gallon is the largest size that I can easily lift onto my truck bed, around 85 lbs when full.
If you get a 25 gallon tank it will weigh over 200 lbs when close to full. (water is 8.3 lbs/gal)

Some of the bigger tanks have a handle so you can attach it to your tow hitch to transport it to the dump station. Go really, really slow. If you need to you can ask me why.

By the way the common vernacular is "blue boy" because one of the manufacturers makes them in blue.

We don't use one of these. Too much trouble to carry around, difficult to get to the dump station and prone to "accidents." We have 39 gallon grey and 39 gallon black tanks and can make it easily 8 to 10 days on the grey so if we are in a campsite without full hook ups (which is 90% of the time) we simply bring the trailer to the dump station and then back to the site. It takes us between 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to do this and be set up on the site again. When you think about it, there is not much time savings with the tote (or blue boy.)

I used one when I had the Bambi II because I had no choice. What a PITA. I had no gray tank. I let it go with the Bambi when I sold it. Thankfully the Safari has decent sized tanks. I can easily go a week to 10 days depending on camp ground facilities or local.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."
