does anyone think it's a particularly BAD idea to paint the interior of a newer model? I would like to change my whole 22 ft ccd into an over-the-top pink extravaganza and my dealer and friends say it's a bad idea b/c of hurting the re-sale value. I figure--it's my home and who know's when I'll ever sell in the first place? anyone out there have any experience with making permanent changes and trying to trade-in/ sell later with little success?
.... i HATE that whole concept, keeping your surroundings as bland as possible for that phantom buyer out there who MAY someday enjoy the house YOU should be enjoying now. If you extrapolated that concept onto every house in the country, we'd all be living--and driving--in white boxes, not because any of us liked them, but because we were sacrificing our lives on the altar of the resale god, living in some sort of dull stasis.
My theory is that, if you have good taste, there are plenty of people out there who will recognize that & be pleased to take your daring but tasteful property off your hands.
My first house had a green bathroom and cutouts in the parquet for seasonal rug swaps, and I didn't even have to put it on the market when I left the city. My next-door neighbor bought it. This house has horizontal green stripes in the bedroom, a bright-red dining room & a yellow, teal & aqua paint job on the outside. I love every inch of it. And not only has my next-door neighbor HERE offered to buy my house, but a woman walked up my driveway recently & made an offer.
OK, I'm not even started yet, but that's my first 2 cents' worth.
seems to me there was this old movie in which shirley maclaine was a widow, and everything in the movie was pink.....quite a (imho) revolting experience... bottom line...if it feels good, do it....just give me advance notice where you intend to camp....

Pink is not my flavor, but!
If you are not fixing it for resale and you like the color, knock your self out.
You bought it, you own it, do what you want with it.
The whole object is to enjoy the whole Airstream experiance, we seem to be quite a diverse lot.
Pink is cool. It works for Paris Hilton. Let's get this party started! (does anyone get the reference? )

... and i hope i have time on my deathbed to think, "wow, i was kind of a clown & painted my houses in bright colors. oh why oh why did i do that, i should have been thinking resale value back in Ought Four, oh woe is me it is a life of rue & regret...."
this is dark Navy Blue, almost Black (black under it though, wasn't happy with the color...LOL) with metalic copper diamonds painted on, ALl of the woodwork is painted metalic gold in the hall....
There's more, but I will spare you all...
