PayPal Fraud

I received the following message from someone pretending to be PayPal Security, if you receive a message similar to this report it to PayPal's Security by opening a new browser window and going to PayPal's security center from there.
As you can see it looks authentic but beware, it's bogus!!!!!!

I got a similar email from someone committing fraud on eBay. I have also received the one you refer to from someone committing fraud on PayPal.
Do not ever respond to such an email.
I forwarded both emails to the fraud divisions of customer service so they could attempt to trace it out and prosecute the perpetrators.

It's my understanding from State Police Detectives here in Connecticut that this is the safest crime to be doing. No one follows up on this and gets the bad guys. Alot of it is run from Eastern Europe by their organized crime. It's like Credit Card's, the company just increases their fees to the honet folks to pay the lost from the fraud. Some exceptions but 99% nothing to fear for the bad guys.
Really need to change my account numbers. The clever thing about the Pay Pal thing is they don't need your numbers you give them access. These super accounts are a huge risk if you have more than one Credit Card set up on them.

I received a similar message several months ago. I sent it to the fraud team @ eBay.
Then I changed my e-mail address for eBay. Kind of a hassle, but so far they have not tried again. Good luck.

I dd a lot of transactions on eBay, and so use Paypal a lot. I really like it. It's an easy way to both send and receive money.Seems like every few moths i receive one of those emails asking you to update your information before a certain date or your account wiil be closed. Of course you have to click on a link that they provide. As soon as you make that click they've got you. I don't even open the email anymore, i just delete it.
I had my credit card information ripped off a couple of years ago while purcasing an item from a SECURE site in the U.K.. They bought thousands of dollars in computer equiptment with my card and had it sent out of the country. I called both the local police and the F.B.I. fraud department. I was told that this is small potatoes and they don't have the man power to chase down such small crimes. These people know that they are not going to be persued so they get away with this every day. They're just out there on computers fishing for your information. SO..... don't ever open an email asking you for any kind of personal information. If Paypal or anyone else needs to update your information you'll know when YOU log on to the site with your password.
