Very true.

When my Safari was being built in December, I took the tour afterward and talked to the production manager. He told me, "I remember your coach." Really? "Sure, you had the leather couch in yours. It was one of only two units that had the leather couch upgrade that run and we had to wait a bit for it to come in so we could install it."

Right now there is a backlog on stoves...I don't know how true this is. Once the unit goes into production the coach is tagged. Although not impossible, I don't think that changes are made once the order is placed onto the production floor.

Also to compare, before the large influx of orders, I placed my order for my '04 in Octoberish....maybe last few days of September.... the coach was at the dealer the second week of December.

My order for the Classic was also placed at the end of September. It didn't show up till mid January.

We ordered ours 10/19, and it hit the floor January 5th. We visited it at the Factory 1/19 and took delivery 1/22.

It is going to be 60 here this weekend, and we are scrambling to get it ready for a shake-down. Brake controller installed, Get a longer sewer hose and some antifreeze to put back in it, etc...

Ahhh.

I received confirmation last night that my dealer was able to alter a 22' CCD order originally placed by him on 1/30/04 to my specs. The AS factory sheet he provided me shows a project start date of 3/26/04 with an "off-line" date of 4/7/04. So, using his calculations, coach should be in-hand around 4/15 to 4/20, about 6 - 7 weeks. It looks like using this method shaved off 3 - 4 weeks.

In review, it appears that a 22' CCD is presently taking 9 weeks to completion, plus shipment to the dealer, plus dealer prep, etc.
