I bought my 75 Overlander just a couple months ago.
It didn't need too much when I got it. Or so I thought...
So I left it up at the lake for a few weeks. But after reading these forums a couple of times a day I realized it needed a whole lot of things.
So I brought it back home yesterday and spent the afternoon working on it today.
Fixed the 2 thermopane vista views and started deciphering how I'm going to get rid of the moisture in all of the front 3 windows.
Been thinking I might need a rivit shaver to do the job right.
There's $175 plus the rivits that I can thank you all for.
Not to mention whatever it'll cost for the windows themselves.
I also measured the front 3 window shades so I can replace them.
And then I started to wash the exterior of the trailer.
Then I noticed my neighbor relaxing in his yard enjoying a cold one.
But I wanted to get streetside washed before I joined him...

And that's when I realized I might have the dreaded Bauxitis.
Been staying up a little later lately and have read the original owners manual and 1975 repair manual pretty much from cover to cover.
And I've been looking for a vintage Airstream plaque that I can rivit onto the side of the toolbox on my pickup.
Don't have any other bumper stickers anywhere on the truck.
Did I tell you I've never hand washed the pickup?
Naw, I just run it through the auto car wash once in a while.
I think it was the hand washing the AS that did it.
Dunno.
I actually stuck my whole head and arm out of the window of my pickup the other day. To wave as I saw an AS coming the other direction on the highway.
Oh yeah, and I remembered I have some nice left over vinyl in the rafters of the garage.
Just about right for a new floor in the bathroom.
Um Hmmm
Do you think it's Bauxitis?
All I ever did to my old SOB camper is paint a couple of coats of silver seal on the roof over the years.
Where did you say the next rally was?
Been joining websites right and left. And a couple of them have my credit card # already...

they seem to draw a certain type of person. People with above average intelligence. People who like to DIY. People who don't "Go with the flow". Most of the other RVers at other internet sites would be scared stiff to tackle a black tank valve themselves. Folks here, just dig in and do it. (unless it's under warranty!) Blown engine in a Winnabago? To the nearest RV dealer for a quick trade in. Not here! Where else can you find a camper owned by a "Baby Boomer" and restored to like new condition, that he camped in when he was a young boy? Here! Where can you find the best towing information? Here!

This site and you guys and gals are the best!

Incurable and sometimes fatal. They can take my Airstream when they pry the rivet gun from my cold dead hand.

hahaha Yep you got it.
It's proabaly terminal.
Airstreams disease seems to be a life long thing.

Why is neigbor relaxing and enjoying a cold one when he could
be sweating his butt off in repairing/polishing an Airstream?
What's wrong with him?
The only known cure for Bauxitis is to pass it off on someone else.
Consider joining AA (Airstreams anonymous). Donate your trailer to Neighbor. Sip your cold one while you watch him work. Make comments such as
"looking good but needs to be buffed again".
