I'm sure I'll find myself there too! It's just fate isn't it!?

I'm a total freak about google earthing anyplace I plan to go, like to the point of being OCD about it. I drove my wife nuts in our 40' bus over it

But ya know.. it's our responsibility as RV'ers right? To be aware of what's happening, AND what's about to happen?

Experience?

My thoughts about this are: Very little experience in pulling a trailer, possibly too many beers, maybe not enough planning ahead.

I actually can relate, but that is a story for another time. Not going to criticize or make wise cracks. It could happen to anyone.

Hello plasma 800:

My parents had a similar experience back in the 1950's. They had purchased a new 29' Terry trailer and were on their first and only long trip to Yellowstone Natl. Park. Somehow they managed to get onto a dead-end street. They unhitched the trailer from the tow vehicle. The residents in the nearby homes came out and helped them to push and shove the trailer around by hand. Dad re-hitched and after thanking everyone for their help, they continued on their journey very embarrassed by their experience.

Dad claimed there were no signs indicating that street was a dead-end.

I've had to turn around a couple of times (we won't discuss the reasons why), and have backed the trailer onto a farmers turn row to do it.

LOL --- oh boy, I love todays technology, I can only imagine what it was like in the 50's.

I suppose also there would absolutely no way to turn an airstream around by hand. The only recourse would be to back from where you came.

I had a buddy tell me a story about a friend in a motorhome, on a tight two lane road, who came to a bridge too low for him to fit under.

A police officer had to reverse the motorhome 4 miles in the oncoming traffic lane to get him out of it. OUCH.

Oh.. no no no no

I've had to back 18-wheelers several miles on narrow roads. Paved and Unpaved. Curves and trees. Even less fun than an RV. That was the only way in to some places. Can't tell you how many times I have had to stop and roll forward to re center rig on road. Always best in the dark with a light rain. Some guys are natural at it and I'm not. As that is known, it's no longer an impediment.

And I've had to drop a loaded trailer as a new driver when I drove into a place in which I couldn't turn around. Thankfully it was on concrete. Otherwise a wrecker would have been necessary.

My wife and I ALWAYS travel with all three Austin Powers Movies, PERIOD.

And Desi was doing so good... lol What a great show that was. I wish they built houses and people had yards like that anymore.
