Other Airstream Novels

I know of two novels that featured an Airstream. They are...

PEACE LIKE A RIVER, Leif Enger

BOONDOCKING, Tricia Bauer

I don't know if either author was intimately familiar with Airstreams. You can look them up on Amazon.com.

We can always look forward to reading another.

Funny, that I just read one of the essays in Americana: Dispatches from the New Frontier by Hampton Sides entitled "The Silver City" (South Bend,Indiana). He pokes gentle fun at the WBCCI International Rally, at the togetherness of the serious caravaners, discusses Wally and some Airstream history, and really produced a rather nice piece about the "culture." It ends with one Airstreamer heading out of the Rally on the last day, calling out, "That's it. We are rolling!" Made me want to go right out and hitch up! Some of you might enjoy reading it. And to Scribbler, I am looking forward to your book. What fun to see it take some shape here on the forum!

Thanks again...

...everyone. I really appreciate all the great advice. (Grant, I'd love to come -- Milton is a little more accessible. Perhaps next weekend? I'll send you a PM.)

I think what I will do -- to rescue the poor body of the trailer -- is have someone interested early on (years before) in buying the trailer. When she refuses, he begs her to at least protect it with a sheet or tarp, perhaps shows up with one in his arms. What would be the best kind to throw over the trailer?

Scribbler

p.s. -- Sharon -- what a horrible story about your employer. I took a look at your area -- it looks so beautiful, I don't blame you for moving. But I hope things improve so that hubby doesn't have to travel into the city quite so often.
