Nova Scotia

Has anybody trailered their airstream to Nova Scotia? Some friends would like to plan a trip for the fall and it looks like some pretty rugged terrain.

My main concern are the roads to get there. We all live in New Jersey and any insight or experiences that you've had would be greatly appreciated!

There's a WBCCI caravan that goes from Rhode Island to Nova Scotia and PEI. If you're a member, check out your Blue Beret mag and contact the hosts - I'm sure they'd have tons of great information.

In addition, I think I've seen a few threads in here about travel to that area - try google searching for "Nova Scotia Airstream Forums" and you'll find threads like this one: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...nb-127682.html and many others.

Good luck - I want to do that North by Northeast caravan when I retire. I think it's 8-10 weeks....someday!! :-)

We've been to Nova Scotia. No issue with roads, however, if you plan on the Cabot Trail, which is beautiful I would NOT trailer on that road. I would suggest travailing up to Baddeck area, staying there and then doing the trail as it is has lots of twists and turns and small pull offs so not much opportunity to stop and take in the sites. We stayed in two campgrounds one in Baddeck and in North Sydney the KOA. Both were nice, we liked the KOA more as lots of room to walk down a dirt road and a place to put the Kayaks in.

I think that you will find that the roads in NS are excellent. I have taken my Airstream around the Cabot Trail 3 times and have not experienced any unusual challenges. The caveat would apply to the detour to Meat Cove which could get ugly in the rain but if fair weather, worth the visit. Jim
