Other than a few members of this group, NO ONE uses a travel trailer for serious travel. My wife and I TRAVEL about 6 months of the year. All the RV's on the road are motorhomes and 5th wheels. Travel trailers are for setting on cement blocks at the local campground.

I am a 25 year member of WBCCI and a MH owner (since I travel)

Perhaps YOU would park YOUR trailer on cement blocks. For the rest of us out here that find trailers to be the BEST way to travel (and DON"T preach to me about motor homes, as I full-timed in a 40' Monaco Dynasty for 5 years!) and don't need to carry everything we own with us at 6MPG, they are exactly what we want! Efficient space utilization with all the comforts of home (and yes, I full-time in my 19CCD for 6 months of every year!!!) at around 15MPG ............YMMV

i took a Motorcycle trip from SE Kansas to Colorado were i did a loop of the the southern part of the state in early July. i would half to say i only saw maybe a half dozen Airstream's on the road, parked at a campsite, or in a storage area, or someones yard. most the ones i saw on the road were any were from 16ft to 25ft and all newer then an 2000 model's. of most the of the ones parked in storage or back yards i would say fit into the vintage categories. but if i remember it was 2 or 3 days into my trip before i saw my first A/S and it was some were between Pueblo Co and Montrose.

We hardly ever see any AS in our neck of the woods...Did see one on the highway on the way back from Houston...it was quiet a shock.

"NO ONE uses a travel trailer for serious travel.

So sayeth Busnut in his second post as a new member.Going to be real popular!

Both statements totally incorrect.

Perhaps he has a mental flinch everytime one of millions of travel trailers pass him on the road and he actually doesn't see them!

Motorhomes are being dumped all over North America at fire sale prices due to the high cost of gas.

Happy with my 29 Excella and gas sipping 12 valve diesel Ram 250.I get 17 mpg towing!

---and I have all of my truck longbed for storage.

Whats your mpg on your motorhome---- Busnut?

Serious Travel? We made the trip to Bozeman from Augusta, GA this summer. Stopped in Texas, NM, CO, ID, SD, NE, and MO along the way. We made 5600miles and 3 1/2 weeks. Our mileage with an 04 Ram diesel was about 14...but we were pushing it to make over 430 miles per travel day.

This is our 3rd long trip in 3 years. We have over 28,000 miles on our 06 Safari. Serious....? Who needs a motorhome?

Matt

relax folks... he didn't use any of those stupid smiley faces so you cannot know if he was just joking about the "no one seriously...." comment.

Usually, the use of those smiley faces are a sure fire way of knowing if a person is joking. But we'll likely never know because this person seems to only make an appearance once every two years.

Considering past discussions about the motorhome issue, etc. I have a feeling that this person wasn't joking and may well have a bit of an axe to grind with the AirForums 'upstarts'.

Thanks Lew! But I can't really talk, because I'm living full time in my stationary Tradewind while my house is being built. There is not a single concrete block to be seen though!
