NJ to FL: RV parks close to I-95

Hi All,

As a backup, I may opt to drive 95 on my way home from Florida (Headed to south NJ) while towing the airstream.

Can anyone recommend a few good RV parks not too far offI-95?

I'd like to drive 350 miles or less each day, so any help would be appreciated!

Depending on where you are leaving from in Florida, you might check out Coastal Georgia RV Resort in Brunswick, Georgia. We have reservations there in January heading to Canopener. Here is the link:

Inland Harbor RV Park Darien, Georgia $30 a night (no credit cards) with full hook ups and spots are drive thru. i'll be here for more weeks :-)

RV resort @ Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, NC RV Resort @ Carolina Crossroads they also sell propane. Cracker Barrel or Walmart also work in Roanoke Rapids but my TomTom gps gets lost there.

Walterboro,SC

New Green Acres RV park - Walterboro, South Carolina never stayed there but recommended by friends.

NJ Turnpike rest areas since they don't let trucks idle at night.

There are quite a few...

There is one in Smithfield-Selma, NC (RVacation) another down near Wade(Fayetteville RV Park) that are right off the interstate. There is another near Lumberton (Sleepy Bear IIRC) and then South of the Border. A bit further down near Dillon, SC is Bass Lake.

Lots of them show up on a google map search.

Our first stop coming out of NJ is RVacation Campground, Selma, NC, Rte 95 Exit 98, 542 miles from NJ. This mainly a transit park with pull through sites, rest rooms are clean, Wi-Fi, cable, electric and water, cost $25/night. We also stop at Treasure Coast RV Resort in Fort Pierce, FL, Rte 95 exit 129. This is a first class, clean park with snow birds in their first class rigs making it their winter home, cost us $55.75/night.

We like to travel frugally when just overnighting. Walmart, Cracker Barrel and our favorite way using free sites at other Rv'ers homes. We have tried the WBCCI list but haven't had too much success. However the Frugal Shunpiker's "Boondockers Welcome" site has led to many great overnight stops at wonderful hosts. We took 95 to Florida from Virginia last year and stopped at three wonderful hosts homes on the way to the keys. Here is the website and it's only a small fee to join; https://www.boondockerswelcome.com/

From NJ on our way to S. Carolina we make our first stop at a Cracker Barrel in southern Virginia. We used to drive to North Carolina and stop at a campground by Wilson but now we don't drive as much in one day. We stop at the Cracker Barrel right off 95, eat dinner there and then stay overnight in the back parking area specifically for RVs. A Hampton Inn is next door and it is a quiet setting.

I second the remark about Cracker Barrel as being a good place to overnight. It makes sense to use an RV park about once every 2-3 days, but if you're just sleeping 8 and moving on, do the Cracker Barrel thing. Check ahead, not all have RV parking, and some zoning doesn't permit overnight parking even where they do (Lynchburg VA) I got hassled in the RV parking by the local guard company.

If you want a LONG shower or to dump your tanks and take on fresh water you'll need an RV park. If you use Cracker Barrel it's polite to dine or breakfast there.

We have made many trips from NJ to Florida. We found an easy in and out place in Enfield NC..exit 154 just .8 miles off of 95. $34.00 gets you electric and water and safety. It's a KOA.
