New to rv'ng. have our eye on 22' Safari Sport

Greetings:
Brand new to forum, so please be gentle. Wife and I nearing retirement. Have the travel itch, so planning to purchase an rv in the near future. Brand new to rv'ng too, so not sure where to start. 22' Airstream Safari Sport appears ideal. Any info, comments, likes, dislikes, etc., from those who currently own one of these units is most welcome. Many thanks. PM's welcome. Alex.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

The 22 Sport is a good unit. depending on your travel style and the length of your trips. The only feature that we would not care for is the crawl over double bed.

Brian

It is ideal, for us two, plus two standard poodles. We've had ours for 2 years now and no remorse. Easy to tow and get into tight places. It has more room than we can effectively use. We leave the table in the down position for a bed and use two folding TV tables when needed. They store out of the way nicely between the bed and counter. The crawl over bed is actually Queen size and if your partner sleeps on the inside only becomes an issue if he/she is overweight. We have no problem with any lenght of trip.0

I'll gently say try the search function about this model. I have read somewhere on the Forum about there being frame separation issues with the 22's.

The frame separation issues were with 22' CCD Internationals IIRC. Not sure about the years but I'd guess early on ... '02-?? maybe '04? In any event be cautious looking at early years of the 22' revival.

This is just going on seat-o-the-pants. Somebody spank me if they know better.

Right. The problematic 22 International CCD's were a very different trailer - tandem axle (the Sport has a single axle), no bellypan, OSB floor.
