New to Airstream

We just purchased a 2014 FB 25 Flying Cloud and are hoping to take a trip to New Mexico. Would like suggestions for campgrounds in September.
. We are brand new to the world of Airstream. Also, wonder if it's fun to join trips of other air streamers or kind of quirky.

Which Direction?

Where are you coming from? If you are traveling from the west coast I would suggest a couple of days on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. September is a good time since you might escape some of the intense heat. We also liked the Sante Fe area.

As far as going with a group, it will all depend on you, what kind of personality you have and what your expectations are. There are many who join up and travel in groups and they say good things about the experience. My wife and I are a bit on the "loner" side and would rather not have to deal with all the planning and issues that traveling with others entails. There are definite pros and cons on both sides.

If you want to camp around the Albuquerque area, Enchanted Trails Campground is where they hold the Vintage Trailer Academy. It's on old US 66 west of town a few miles. It's a great place to camp, and fairly close to Old Town.

Did your dealer give you any information on the WBCCI? If yes, contact your local unit and see if you can join them for a rally or two. That way you can see if it's your cup of tea before making a membership commitment. There's also the TAC (The Airstream Club). It's free to join, and they have TAC rallies a few times a year too.

Do a Google search for State campgrounds. New Mexico has some of the finest State parks in the US. Also it might help if you list where you're coming from.

Yep, we're all a little quirky, but the most fun, most accommodating, people you'll ever know. Join the party where ever it is. You'll be welcomed.

For finding campgrounds I highly recommend All-Stays Camp and RV app. for your iPad/iPhone. Lin and I rely on it to find our next landing spot, both for directions and for reviews by others just like us.
