I'm a little confused. (okay, a lot confused.) If the EB tires ARE an option, and the dealer makes money on all the options he sells, why is our dealer and the district mgr. for the dealership, not pushing the option or even recommending the option? And this is after several conversations about this issue with them.

I also have a Honda 2000i and a Honda 3000i handy...both excellent generators (very soft on the ears). One consideration is the carrying space and the transportation of gasoline in your tv...of course one can always top off the tv tank if it gets too close to empty on a long desert haul!

The 16" tires and wheels apparently are only an option on the price list for the Eddie Bauer. Thus any other model it becomes a change order for the service area after the build is completed.

I believe my five 16 inch tires and sender wheels cost about 1800 and I sold the 5 take offs for 550. I ordered from a company in California.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Airstream Forums mobile app

But if the 16"tires are so desireable for many new AS owners, why hasn't Airstream or Thor (whoever makes the decisions) see this an important upgrade on their product and make the 16" tires an option on all factory built Airstreams? Has no one approached the powers to be and suggested this? And if it has been suggested, what has been the response? I'm neither pro or con 16" tires, it just seems like it would be alot less hassle for new orders to have the option of the 16" tires with the original order at a fair price, and not have to be selling tires after the sale is made.

Perhaps they like the double dipping of profit plus reusing the wheels and tires with a zero cost basis on the second trailer.

I wish someone at Airstream (management) would read this thread. Crazy $100 grand for new trailer and you get ripped off on upgrading the tires.

Although it wouldn't raise the price of the trailer much to install better tires, you could say that about a lot of accessories. And a lot of higher grade products adds up to a higher priced trailer.

Not sure I would have spent another $20k or so to get the best of everything. I wouldn't spend the extra $10k for an Eddie Bauer for just a few upgrades.

And for many buyers, the 15" GYMs will take them to their weekend and local vacation travels just fine. We travel far from home every year so spent the $1000 (after selling the originals) to have four 16" wheels/Michelins and the reliability that comes with them.
