we bought our 72? airstream tradewing land yacht about ten years when my wife asked me if she could put a travel trailer on my property in north ga. i told her t was ok as long it was an airstream. after living in the unit for 2 years we finally bought a cabin and parked the unit and used it as sleeping wuarters only for guests. it mostly sat until i brought it to eastern nc to let it sit closer to our watching eyes. last week we took our first trip, checked the bearings, hooked her up and left and drove 1000 miles, (stopped at the factory to check the brakes) to michigan. we stayed in her for a wseek with no water (no water on site, no outfall, empty tank) and really don't know how to make effective use of all the features. personal instruction would be great but we are going home to park her again, (maybe a trip to okracoke) and i would like to know how to operate everything, like the toilet, water supply without being on outside service, how the tank works, the toilet. my manuel explains how to take apart and fix everything but not how to live in the unit. since we will not ber hanging around other airstreamers (it was fun at the factory campsite for a day, being a lost cousin and all) i need some help. this is my cry for help and assistance thanks in advance
My suggestion is that you find another GA Airstreamer who lives nearby and request their help. We have had several newbies bring their trailer to our driveway and camp for the weekend so that we could help them learn how to use their systems. It was lots of fun and they are now all flying "solo"! The other thing you could do is look at the rally calendar here and make a trip to the next rally that you see pop up in GA. There are some wonderful Airstreamers from there that we have met at some of the rallies that we have attended.
It isn't rocket science and it shouldn't take you long to figure it all out!

I am a new member living in Georgetown CA with our home within the El Dorado National Forest. We currently have no Airstream but are looking for a 1980's or 90's one that we can handle with our 2007 Toyota Tacoma (3500 lbs)

Welcome to the forums, I am sure you will find more than the answer you want here.
There are a lot of knowledgeable folks around here that are willing to share info.
You should post this question down near the tow vehicle or new member section. (not in someone else's thread) you will likely get a better response.

It is a good idea to find somebody local to take you under their wing, but failing that, read, read, read this forum, also your owner's manual, and I would even go so far to get the service manual.
The experiences you read on here are not only about repairs, they are also about the day to day life in and around AS trailers.
Breath deeply, and enjoy.
Of course, if you want more of a crash course, keep travelling, attend the get-togethers you see listedon here, and ask questions of people you meet in doing this.
