Just go to the "Portal" and enter the state and type of RV and you'll see five inspectors listed. One is c.r.bailey in Reno, NV .
He hasn't been on the forums since Dec 2010, so he may never see your post unless you send him a PM.
Hope this helps.

Kalamazoo is in Michigan, not Illinois... it's 150 miles from Chicago, which is often farther than inspectors are willing to travel on a volunteer basis.

Also, you're relying on someone in the area to happen to read the post you added onto this old thread, which isn't all that likely.

I would recommend that you search for a trailer inspector using the tool on the "Portal" page of this website. It's on the right-most column about halfway down the page, "Airstream Inspectors." Put in Michigan for the state, and Trailers Only and it'll give you a list of 16 people in Michigan who've agreed to inspect trailers for other forum members.

mnmhays is in Southwest Michigan, so he may be near.

RecLoose is in Grand Rapids, about 50 miles from Kalamazoo.

Desikk is in Decatur, very near Kalamazoo.

I'd recommend sending some people private messages, because typically the site generates an email to you when a PM is received, so even if someone isn't looking at the site they'll be notified they have a message.

Good luck.

Let me volunteer for northern New England. If I can inspect your prospective purchase within 100 miles of Burlington, VT, let me know!

(That area includes the Adirondacks, northern and central VT, Montreal, northeastern NH).

Not a lot of Airstreams up here for sale but I thought I'd set an example. Come on, everyone, volunteer and let's see if we can get a network going!

this is copied from the older thread " so you want to buy a trailer that is three states away". I will try to clean it up and recreate the list as time permits. (alansd)
If you want to be on or off the list as it exists post here or PM me.

Greetings Earthcreeper,
Odds are slim that a Sarasota based Airstream inspector will see your post.
I would recommend that you search for a trailer inspector using the tool on the "Portal" page of this website. It's on the right-most column about halfway down the page, "Airstream Inspectors."
Enter Florida for the state.
Enter trailer only.
When you talk to your volunteer inspector, be prepared to provide him a comprehensive checklist if he doesn't have one.
You want an objective, checklist-based inspection.
Offer to pay for mileage.
Good luck!
P.S. Just checked and there are 29 in FL, but most have not visited the Aistream Forums recently. You will need to reach out to them.

Inspection checklist

Earthcreeper: To add just a bit to what Alumaholic posted for you, just above the "state" drop-down list to search for inspectors is a link to the very useful Trailer Inspectors Checklist.

I linked to it in my post above, and described where the link can be found on the Portal page as well.

I hope I am doing this correctly, and thought this might be the best thread to ask the question. I've found an Airstream in Las Vegas NM, I live in Albuquerque NM. I am planning in the next couple of weeks to go check the airstream out; however, I noted there are members who are willing to go with you and check it out as well, two eyes are better than one. Any chance anyone from NM reading this today and would be interested in driving up with me? I'll buy lunch and take my SUV. Please PM me if you can help. The airstream in question is an 86 Airstream Soverign 29'. Thanks again.....Wally Winter in Albuquerque

Unbelievable People

I am just going to add my 2-cents....You volunteers are unreal. Where else could a person find people willing to take on this task. I can say I am fortunate to be an AS member.....Tom
