Names

It seems that Airstream has used various names and name combinations for essentially the same trailers over the years, and I'm getting confused. (I know, it doesn't take much to confuse me...) Anyway, looking only at wide body models, which ones have a two-bowl sink? In the current lineup, only the Classic has that feature. What about older coaches?

Since 51 people have looked at my post, and no one has said anything, can I assume that a coach that has "Classic" as part of the name would be similar to today's Classic? For example, there is an Excella Classic in the Classifieds, but I can't tell from the pictures whether it has a single kitchen sink or a double bowl sink. I could ask the seller, but I'd rather hear a general answer than one for a specific coach.

A lot of older trailers had a double sink but Excella was the old "classic".

I have seen a lot of airstreams with double sinks, but I don't know which one have or don't have them. If it is helpful at all, our 89 excella has a double.

No, I think all you can assume is that lots of people were intrigued enough by the Title of your thread to look at it. Maybe if the title was more specific?

You are going counter to one of Airstream's greatest marketing achievements. That is: "convincing people that single round sinks are cool".

My wife felt strongly enough about having a double sink that it was a major consideration in buying the Classic.

From the responses so far, I'm guessing the best advice would be to ask when you find a trailer you might be intersted in. I hope you find one you like.

Our Trade Wind has a double sink. No 'Classic' in the name. It is a 1966 though.

Thanks. I wondered what to title this question. I'll add Excella to the list of possibles. Sometimes the photographs give a clear answer, and sometimes they don't, which is why I asked.

No dishwasher,, 2 sinks important I feel

Our stick and staple wonder 5th wheel just had one sink,. Washing dishes was a pain as one had to pile the soapy dishes aside and then rinse or rinse one by one.. No matter what system ,,, the water use seemed real high.. We solved the problem with another plastic basin by the sink..

Our 1972 Overlander has 2 sinks and will use it.. We like to camp off the grid,, and as far from public as we can safely tow our trailer off the main roads. So fresh water is important and must be used with care..

Don't worry if folks were shy to reply,, as your title as written might require too much time to go down the list of all trailers, years, and sink systems,.,

if you ask the moderators, I'll bet they would change the threads title to something like "Who has a double section sink?" or whatever catches your fancy.

Hi, our 2005 Safari has the double kitchen sink. At the time that we bought our trailer, the Safari and Classic had the same exact floor plan. The Classic had different materials on the cabinets and different windows, but very much the same layout.

This was my initial effort to make sense of the models - current and recent past - for newbies.

The farther back you go, the more complex it gets. Names have been used and re-used in the past. The current 16 & 19 foot trailers are called "Bambi's" but the name has been used before for vintage units - both "Bambi" and BambiII" - which logically means that today's Bambi's ought to be BambiIII's .... but they aren't.

Just immerse yourself like it's a warm bubble bath... it will all make sense eventually. (Now for END SEGMENTS..... the originals had 13, then they went to 7 and current models have 5... but then there's the California "Whale tail".

Don't even ask. Small doses.

Paula

The names are a mess - our '95 30' is labeled with all three of the following: Excella, Classic, and 1000.

I wouldn't rely on just the name to know whether it has a double sink or not. I know for the B190 motorhomes it was an option, for example, and B190s never had sub-models. It probably is an option for a lot of their models. The best thing to do is ask if you're looking at one and can't tell from pictures.

Also, our trailer has double sinks, but we could do without it - I guess after using a single sink to do dishes for a long time (in our B190 and in several of my apartments), the second one seems almost superfluous. Also, the double sink makes getting larger things clean harder. I'm learning to fill the first sink with water and use the second for rinsing, but honestly we didn't do it that way on our first few trips and it felt like I had a useless sink bowl in front of me. I wouldn't give it up if we had to replace the sink for some reason, but I also wouldn't veto a trailer over not having a double sink.

I have the double sink in my 1982 34' Limited. There is no "classic" designation for me either. I think that is a designation on the newer models.
