I go there often. I've never stayed at Portal, but understand it is nice. I've stayed at slickrock campground which can get dusty, most of the time I stay at Canyonlands Campground.

We have never been to Moab before and are planning a Fall trip - September or October timeframe. It would be nice to go when it gets a little cooler!

Lightbulb That's a GREAT idea, Ken!

You should DEFINATELY organize an Airstream Forum Rally in Moab, to coincide with the Moab Music Festival. Might have to be in 2004, though.

Man--I wish I had thought of that. You guys in Colorado are so smart. Must be that clean air!

That's one place my 16 yr old. would say "LETS GO"!!! He went Jeep rock climbing there with 2 buddies and a dad last year and it is all he has talked about since. We went by Moab this Spring on our way to Zion NP and thought we might lose him (bailing out). It would definitely have many attractions for the out of doors types that we are. Make it in 04 and we might be able to arrange our schedule. Leigh

Thumbs up Tag ~ you're it Ken!

We'd go in 2004...next Rocky Mountain Forum Rally? Plan it and they will come...

Tom - its the lack of oxygen

Sheri - I think this is how I got to be president of my local unit.

Glad you jumped in Sheri, because one of my main concerns is if we all decide to do another spring NM rally, then we should do this in the fall.

It would be fairly easy to put together because I've now had the teachings of the master rally organizer (that would be Sheri).

When is the music festival? The great thing about Moab is there are so many festivals - music, art, photography, of course jeeps and my favorite - bicycling.

I knew if I mentioned it - there would be interst - its such a great place....

Moab could be in lieu of NM...or we could do NM in the fall during chili harvest season ~

Moab RV Park

We've stayed at the Moab KOA four years running. The operators are friendly, it has some of the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen in a KOA, and they tend to get foreign travelers (van tour and Cruise America types) which makes for interesting neighbors. There are some shady spots and some not so shady. You're about four miles south of Moab, but it's a fast shot into town.

We also stay at both the north and south units of Canyonlands National Park. There aren't a lot of camp spaces and they fill up pretty fast, but the park is just about the most beautiful place on earth. The south unit has flush toilets and water in one campground, the north unit has vault toilets and no water (at least that's the way it was two years ago). This is dry camping at its best.

The Jailhouse Cafe has the best breakfast and the malts at the Moab Diner can't be beat. The Hogan Trading Company has superb native american art. If you stop there, you'll spend money--guaranteed. Moab is the mountain biking capital of the world so to fit in make sure you have two-wheeled transport.

Have fun in Moab.

Possible Moab loacation for Rally

Hi,
I don't know the details in reference to the "next year" trip, but we have planned our trip to Moab and will be staying at the Spanish Trails RV Park.

I will post information and impressions upon our return. We are very much looking forward to our very first extended trip in our A/S. We have only been out for one and two nighters!

I would bet from everything that we have learned that Moab would be a wonderful place for a Rally (excluding summer)! lol

BTW-Thanks to everyone who posted RV/Moab information!

It's a nice place

We usually try to make it to Moab in Oct. For some warmth and bike riding. I'd be interested in 2004.

I have an '80 A/S International on my property in Castle Valley, UT, and I'm pretty familiar with the hiking / biking options around Moab and beyond. I'm a singer/guitarist and I'll be performing at the "Poplar Place" on Main St. (Moab) OCT 24&25 as well as NOV 7&8. Drop in and say hellow. . . The First Annual Moab Folk Festival will be held NOV 6 thru 8. Remember, we lose DST: the days are shorter and the nights can drop into the 20's. That's usually the week I winterize. Click on my photos to see Castle Valley (18 miles E of Moab). Email if you have questions. - Roy

P.S: October is traditionally the best month to be in that part of Utah.
