Member with Pancreatic Cancer
Hello fellow forum members,
I would like to let you know that I have been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in September of last year (2006), I started Chemo therapy on January 8th, 2007 after 27 weeks of Chemo treatments in Seattle, WA (about a two and a half hour drive from home here in Yakima, WA, I am told that the tumor is not shrinking and it is to close to a major blood vessel for surgery at this time. The surgeon has recommended Chemo/Radiation combo treatment that will consist of 3 different Chemo meds and radiation. The Chemo meds will be (1) a four hour infusion on Mondays, (2) an injection on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, (3) a pump that I will wear all week long that will pump the medicine into a port that is inserted under the skin just below my left collar bone, the Radiation treatments are Monday through Friday every day for about ten minutes. We will have to stay in Seattle for five weeks for these treatments at a hotel next to the hospital and that alone is costing us over $2,500 and my wife is taking a Family Medical leave from her work to be there for me, so we are also losing our income. If anyone would like to make a donation to help us through this, please click on the link to my website just below my name and on the home page is a link for donations. Also I would appreciate all prayers for me and my family.
Thank you for you time reading my post.

Cory,
I know this won't be easy for you, or your family. An upbeat, positive attitude can play a big part in your healing process, you're on the right track with the prayers. I will.
Keep us updated, you have a large potential support system here to go along with family and friends.

Cory,
I read this information while researching 65 GT's before I lost mine.
We are here to support you in your time of need. I wish I was able to do more than just donate to you as what you are going through can drain much more than money.
Prayers to you,
Steve

Steve,
Thanks, and I know about the drain physically, some days I only make it as far as my couch and don't even turn on my computer or log on to my fav website (here) I used to check in here 3 to 4 times a day. Again thank you.

Cory, do you have a PayPal account? We've had success with this route when one of us got run down on the road. Let us know what you need.

If you visit his website listed in his signature, in the upper left corner of page 1 is a link for PayPal donations.
It's going to be a long road to recovery, good luck Corey. You'll be in our heoughs...

Tough road ahead but having been through a similar situation and 17 years later as of August 6th, I can attest to a couple of things:
- Prayers help big time, for you, and for your family. This is as tough on them as it is on you but in different ways. They are in our prayers as well.
- Your own positive attitude will help immensely. Everything from just your own sanity and keeping focused to making the folks providing the treatments with the very clear understanding that you ARE going to get through this and expect them to help you get there. They tend to just be more supportive of those who don't take them for granted, and realize that it's a partnership.
- I had lots of little projects on the go that were easy to accomplish, did not have a particular time line to complete, but I could quickly see them coming to fruition. No internet/forums at that time, wish I'd of had it.
- Cream of Wheat~ it was about the only thing I found that I could eat and keep down at some points. Talking to a nutritionist at the hospital with my wife there helped find foods that worked to sustain me (and Donna) without causing other problems and discomfort, but ultimately I ate a lot of Cream of Wheat. I still like it .
There is a group of nuns who are cloistered in Mission, BC. If it's okay with you we will ask them to include you in their prayers. We have seen remarkable things happen when these ladies help out.

Cory, we enjoyed meeting you and your family at the TCT rally in Deming a couple of years ago, and seeing you again last year at Lincoln Rock. Our prayers are with you. Be strong!

Hi Cory, I am sorry to hear about your pancreatic cancer. My sister came up with pancreatic cancer this spring. Luckily they were able to cut it all out. They caught it very early. Then 2 weeks later she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has metastasized so not so lucky there.
I was good to meet you at Lincoln Rock last year. You will be back Airstreaming and ralllying before you know it. You are in my thoughts.
