LP Gas Detector

I have an Airstream 2014 Intl Signature. Last week my LP Gas Detector just quit working: No Light No Noise. The manual mentions a fuse. After calling Airstream Customer Service, they stated there is no fuse in this model. Des anyone have experience in replacing the Detector on this model? If so is there a fuse or not and if there is where is it? Can I replace the device after simply disconnecting the battery connection?

I don't have your model, but both of my trailers have/had a fuse feeding the propane detector. It was an inline fuseholder in the same general vicinity as the 12V distribution panel. You could also look behind the detector at the wiring.

Also, on both of my trailers, the detector was always on, i.e. i was not affected by the STORE/USE (Battery Disconnect) switch.

As an alternative, maybe the detector has failed. Simple test - get a voltmeter and check the power at the detector.

It’s interesting that AS would design a electrical system that would NOT be protected by a fuse. The liability of that statement if a electrical fire did happen would be over the top.

According to the 2014 International Owners Manual there is a fuse. On page on page E7 under the LP gas detector it says; "Your LP gas detector is wired directly to your vehicle battery and incorporates a 1-amp in-line fuse".

Both of my trailers have an in line fuse included in the wiring directly behind the LP detector.

You can read that manual here>
