Looking to travel with a small group

I have just begun to look at the posts and am amazed at the enthusiasm and knowledge of this special group of people.

I plan to buy a Airsteam in the Tampa, FL area and wonder if there is anyone I could speak to on the phone, via e-mail, or through the chat room to discuss my plans. I know nothing of the culture and would like to spare myself the hurt that ignorance surely will bring on.

My goal is to form a small group of people who would like to tour anywhere for an extended period of time. The caravans (I think that is the word) seem like fun, but a little unwieldly for my taste. Not having any experience myself, this group would need an experienced leader.

Looking to travel with a small group

Greetings Bob!

Welcome to the Forums!

Caravanning is what the WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club) is all about. While a particular caravan might include 30 rigs, a traveling group within the caravan is typically limited to five or fewer. I have been a member for nearly nine years, and have participated in a number of caravans. Most of these caravans have included from 18 to 30 rigs, the actual traveling was done in groups of from three to five rigs. Each of the caravans was organized by a WBCCI trained Caravan leader.

I can assure you that in my experience, first-time caravanners were always welcomed and assisted in every way possible by the experienced caravanners. While my experience has been with caravans lasting less than 20 days, there are any number of caravans lasting more than a month. The Blue Beret, the monthly publication of the WBCCI chronicles all of the upcoming WBCCI caravans and often has advertisements for the Airstream factory sponsored caravans.

You can learn more about the WBCCI at:

Good luck with your research!
