Lets Go To The Dinner!!
With X-MAS gone by and new years now, I was thinking of all the people spending it in the AS. And what came to my mind.....food. So this might be fun for all of us. What is the BIGGEST meal that ever came out of an AS. And I don't want to hear lots of hotdogs, coffee and doritos with sour cream. You know, the big stuff. Lots of pots and pans being used and how many sat down to eat? So.....folks, sit down and start thinking back. And if a dinner went bad... well you know we want to hear that to. We prepared Thanksgiving dinner for 8 in our tiny galley in our Argosy 20. It was a small turkey, but we managed to cram it in. We used:
1-Oven
2-All 3 burners on the stove
3-Microwave
4-Outdoor grill
5-Hibachi
All at the same time. It was an adventure, but everything was edible, nothing got burned, it all tasted good, and no one got food poisoning.
For you food fans, we had:
Turkey
Baked ham
Sweet potatoes
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Oyster stuffing
cranberry sauce
tossed, and pasta salads
Desert was chocolate cream pie.

Prepared appetizers, jambalaya, ettoufee, and sausage for 50+ at our annual tailgate at St. Louis Soulard Mardi Gras. Stored and preped the food inside but cooked it all outside on Weber Kettle & cast iron cookware...also served Cap'n & Coke's, Hurricanes, and lots of AB product !)
...I don't think this was what you had in mind with this thread though.

At a large outdoor family reunion were everyone brings a covered dish, we prepared, on-site, one of the best tasting (IMHO) dishes presented. Well, at least most everyone said good things about it and although it was a very large dish, at the end of the day, there was nothing left.

Family camping party, 10 adults, four kids (3 under 5) This cooking and baking was scattered in with childcare, wiping noses, looking at weird bugs, fixing boo boos, and laughing lots!!
Inside the airstream, this was a 79 Ambassador so I had a real oven instead of my present convection box (no offense to those who like them!)
On the four burners--one pan of red beans and rice, one steaming veggies, one steaming shrimp, and one with mac and cheese (3 kids under 5 sorry not scratch too much to do )
In the oven, cornbread, biscuits, cupcakes, later pizza (homemade),
Outside on the grill--meat stuff.
In the fridge, salads and stuff chopped up at home for use on the grill. And that was just our trailer you understand. Folks had a trailer, brother and his kids had a tent! Icecream cups for the kids, cake, etc.

This is really what I wanted. And let me tell you why. For the past month or so I have been kind of standing in the wings of this forum. Jumping in from time to time. Why? dont really know much on AS life. What I did not see is the fun part of it all. Why we even have one at all. Talking over the HAHA countless times, and who makes the biggest TV. After some time it can be kind of boring. Even the mods must get sleepy at times. Dont get me wrong, you guys know more about AS then AS knows, and its incredible. I have used the search line countless times. And everone is so helpfull. But you folks never talk about the fun part of it all, the good the bad ect. Let me know if I missed part of this forum that does. Happy new year to all and see you on the road- THOMAS

Microwave popcorn....
Actually, we do a lot of cooking on the grill, but I think we've done mac and cheese, pizza, etc. Nothing too elaborate.

A couple of years ago, we took our trailer to our office and "catered" lots & lots of hot appetizers for about 200 people. It was for our Christmas Open House & an artist gallery showing we were hosting in our loft office. Went off pretty well...we used the stove top, all four burners, the oven & two microwaves. Not to mention the fridge...and the snow banks to keep everything else cold.

spaghetti, fetticini, macaroni, chow mein, fried rice, mashed potatoes,
Rice, fried rice, tacos, tamales, quesadeas, split pea soup, bean soup,
Spare ribs, prime rib, roasted pork loin roast, ham, corned beef, steak, lamb chops, leg of lamb, 25 pound turkey w/all the stuffings, yams, cranberry sauce, etc., hot dogs, hamburgers, bacon, sausage, duck, elk, moose, deer, pheasant
Boiled Crab, Clam chowder, Salmon, Cabazone, Ling Cod, Abalone, catfish, trout, black bass, stripers, oysters, fried ,bbqued, broiled, grilled, steamed and/or baked
Lemon Meringue, Pumpkin, Apple, and various berry pies, cream puffs, biscuits, muffins, cakes, cobblers, cupcakes, cookies
Fresh corn, carrots, beans, green salads, pasta salads, tomatoes, peppers, etc..
