Late Model Customization? Show US!!

Who here has pictures of the interior of your Airstream with some major changes....i.e. drapes, cushions wood work....etc...

Lets say from year 2000 to current.

I always see renovations on older models, but how about some recent year models.

There are some nice modifications on this 2006 Safari listed in the classifieds. I like the bookcase and the credenza under the tv. Also has new flooring and cool ultraleather cushions.

Quote:
Original couch and dinette cushions were replaced with custom made cushions made of blue ribbon foam and covered in UltraLeather. Additional cushions were made to create an L shaped seating area for 6 to 7 people while still allowing for original dinette table access.

The bedroom has two twin beds with foam & memory foam mattresses and a three shelf built-in bookcase. Both beds have under-bed storage with interior access doors, one has an exterior access door as well. It would be possible to convert back to the original queen bed if desired.

The kitchen/living room has the original wood-look vinyl flooring, the bedroom area has Armstrong resilient sheet flooring ‘Urban Settings, Kyoto, Copper Tan’ (the Kyoto Floring looks like cork).

2005 Safari remodel.

Hi, just click on my Blog Entries: 37 under my avatar to view my "2005 Safari remodel" to see my step by step process of remodeling our living room. My wife came up with the design/idea, and I made it work/built it. [best to start on the bottom of page eight and go in sequence from there] Below are the before and after pictures, from the inside facing the front.

Shane, if you want to replace your cushions another option to consider beside making or ordering your own would be to purchase replacements from Airstream. Perhaps you prefer the look and easy care of the new ultra leather cushions that Airstream is putting in the current "taupe" Signature Internationals.

2008 Safari SE 27FB up grades

Yes, I have completed a number of up grades to my 2008 Safari SE 27FB. First I designed a new table with a game board in the center. Next I replaced the floor with real walnut flooring. This spring I plan to change the counter top. I all so installed an Airstream frosted window in the bathroom door.

pkenny, that table is a great idea. Did you change the way it mounts to the wall by any chance. The wobbly table was a pain in the '07 and it's still a pain in the '10. I've seen the posts on shimming it, but I'm considering other options too.

I'm thinking the porthole in the bathroom door wasn't stock on the Safari's? If you put it in, did you order it from Airstream HQ or a dealer?

Thank you..Loving the ULTRA leather....I called Airstream and they could not give me price,....but he did say be prepared to pay a pretty nickle.

Oh well....I just don't believe this "terry cloth" fabric is gonna hold up. I'm taking my stream in for the window leak in the morning and going to show my dealer the quality of the fabric and they will probably order new replacements only.....Oh well, that will get me another year and I'll be in the same boat, next year,,,but out of warranty.

Thanks,

Shane

In our 25 FB CCD, we had the cusions replaced with new heavy duty foam, and new covers made with a very nice, heavy upholstry fabric for way less than $1000. Looked great and was very comfy. If you don't like what you have now, don't be afraid to change it.

Hi, I did not change the way it was mounted. I removed the hardware from the old table and installed it on the new table. The picture those not show it but I installed double legs in the front with brace between them. I also made the table a little longer. I could send you more pictures and details if you wish. The table these not wobbly.

The porthole wasn't stock, I ordered it from my dealer. It cost around $200.00 and I installed it myself. I first seen it in a new CCD at the dealer. I like it, first it lets some light in the bathroom as you know there is no window, second you can tell if you left the light on. This has happen a few time before.

Cheers,

Peter #4179
