Ivan's visit to Mystic Springs Airstream Park

Its about 11 days since Ivan visited the northwest Florida area. We haven't had power or internet service for most of this period so please pardon the tardiness of this report. Thought you might want to see the results of Ivan's visit to Pensacola's Airstream park. We started cleaning up the downed trees yesterday and hope to reopen the park in a few weeks. Still no power at the park though the power company is working in the area. We are going back to the park tomorrow and will camp there this coming week.

You can see pictures of the hurricane's visit to the park at

Herb

Good to hear from you. Sounds like your back home and ok - looks like you all have a lot of work ahead of you cleaning up the mess.

Take care, we are all thinking about all of you in Fla.

Regards

Ken

Thanks for the update, Herb.

I hope no one gets hurt during the cleanup. We appreciate your efforts.

Can you tell us what Hurricane Jeanne did......

to the Park? I understand its effects were worse than Ivan's in some areas.

Anyone know how Mystic Springs held up for Dennis? I imagine there were fewer trees to fall (thanks to Ivan)!

Mystic Springs ???

Don't know how Mystic Springs fared this time. We'll go up to the park later this week and check on it. We live about 2 hours away and just got power back tonight. Spent the day cleaning up and taking the plywood off the windows. Dennis went right over McDavid where the park is. Dennis' high winds weren't as wide as Ivan but reports are that in the path of the storm there's as much damage. TS Cindy passed over the area a few days before Dennis and toppled a few trees in the park. We haven't cut all the trees damaged by Ivan so some of them may have fallen.

Our unit rally was supposed to be this week but we cancelled last Friday due to Dennis. We shut off the water and power, emptied the frigs and locked the gates. The 58 Pacer we are going to raffle off was left at the park under the host shed.

Yes, Herb, it's good to hear from you. I guess we could add this to a "wish list". Too bad we can't get a member's list based on geographic area. We could then easily find the info to contact our forum friends in an area, such as a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, etc.

Heeeeey, you might be onto something neat! How cool would it be to plug our membership data into a map, so we could look at little dots representing where a member is located!

Perhaps the dots could be rollovers, too - you'd see member names as you roll your mouse over the dots. I know data for wi-fi spots are now being plugged into Google maps, so there are little dots where each hotspot is.
